Let’s talk a little bit about the practice squad. I know it’s early, but I think that some of the guys that people see as veterans may be practicing squad bound. I know the practice squad rules were changed a few years ago to allow veterans to be signed to the PS.

Some may think that guys like Mafah, Blue, Sam Williams, Wheat, Land, Trigg etc might be have to stay on the roster or get claimed, but I’m not so sure about that. Other teams like their players too.

When you have a guy like Camden Brown who is lighting it up a guy like that might get claimed (in spite of his inexperience) over a Blue or Mafah who haven’t really shown anything yet. I’m not suggesting we should cut Blue or Mafah, etc. I’m just saying that strategically you have to consider which guys would make it to the practice squad and which ones would not and whether you can afford to lose them or not.

Davis the RB might be the best backup RB, but he might possibly make it to the PS too.

I also think that the 5th/6th WR situation is going to be interesting. I would be inclined to move on from Turpin and just keep 5 of those guys. You will need players in numbers at other positions.

Turpin is not great as a WR. He’s not in the top 5 or 6 WR in my opinion. Hes just not that great of a receiver.

If I'm reading you right, then I think you are correct. A couple of ways too look at it...

I could see Trigg making the roster and Schoonmaker going to the PS, even if Trigg would be inactive on game days just because there are like 50 TEs who can do the same thing as Schoon.

I could see them keeping Cam Brown on the roster instead of a 4th RB (like Mafah). Everyone likes Mafah but the reality is that there are a lot of guys who can give you the same thing. So it's really a decision of young WR vs. young RB.
