Can we sign kids cut from other teams to our practice squad or does the team that cut them get first dibs?

Let's say marcus vick for example, he was cut by miami so could a team sign him to their practice squad?

can, yes. do teams do so? rarely. for the most part teams leave other team's guys alone unless they are going to put them on the 53-man.

The player is a free agent, Dallas is one of the teams who pay the max allowed, I believe.

I wouldn't mind signing Omar Jacobs to our PS.

the player hasn't been playing in our system. you'd far prefer a guy who you've seen for the last 6 weeks or so.

I believe the team that cut them has first dibbs though, so they would almost have to clear waivers twice before we got to another teams player.

No, like I said the players are free agents, they can sign with whoever they want(on the practice squad). Some teams offer more money or a better opportunity, but most of the time a player stays with the same team since they don't have to move or start over.

For example/ Bruce Thornton signed to the 49ers practice squad rather than signing with Dallas last season. The 49ers later moved him up to their 53.

The waiver claims to the 53 man roster they have no choice.

If no one claims any one of our players, we can sign them to the PS, so long as their are eligible. So if no team puts in a claim for QB Baker or DT Stanley, Green, etc. we can start signing them to our PS. Understand Cowboys will make public those players they've signed to the PS tomorrow.
