#Cowboys DE George Selvie not practicing. He suffered a head injury in the second half Sunday.
Kyle Wilber, Ernie Sims working with #Cowboys first team defense. Sims stayed in over Bruce Carter during nickel coverage.

Brandon George ‏@DMN_George 1h
LB Justin Durant not practicing for Cowboys. Has a strained groin.

Todd Archer ‏@toddarcher 1h
Kyle Wilber starting at DE with Selvie out.
Miles Austin doing some rehab work on the field. Didn't do that last Wednesday.
Ernie Sims worked nickel D over Bruce Carter.

Calvin Watkins ‏@calvinwatkins 1h
No Miles Austin today, he's working on treadmill.

Charean Williams ‏@NFLCharean 1h
No sign of Miles Austin but Garrett says he has made progress.

Rowan Kavner ‏@KavnerDC 1h
Don't see Selvie on the field. Ware is here. Durant no pads on. Looks like Carter and Sims are rotating in nickel

Well four games in and the injuries are reminiscent of last year. The defense is falling apart. Austin has his annual hammy sandwich. Add to that the benchings (relegated to sub status) of Carter and Claiborne, two guys we had high hopes for.

I think the teams overreacting a bit to Carter's performance Sunday but thats just me. Both he AND Lee have seemed to struggle at times covering space across the middle, but I dont blame him for getting beat by a RB.

There's no denying that Carter struggled on Sun...and in coverage, which was supposed to be one of his strengths. So they have a right to be somewhat concerned.

On Woodheads first TD, Carter actually had very good coverage on him. But it was a perfectly thrown ball by Rivers.
The second TD however was a very poor play by Carter.
There were also about 3 or 4 passes to RB's where they were all alone. Nobody picked them up and the RB's ran 10-15 yards before they were even touched. Not sure if those were Carter's guys or not. But based on his benching, they probably were.

That's where I'm lacking some understanding. The flats were open on both sides of the field in both halves of the game. I dont know whether that is the responsibility of the OLB or if the corners should be coming up, because nobody seems to know what kind of defense they're actually playing out there.

I agree but thats why I think its overreaction. Carter has typically fared very well in coverage

One of the tweets said they were rotating simms and carter - definitely a good idea - in case carter goes out sunday and gets beat bad on the first drive they can put simms in.

It's just upper management scapegoating players(Carter, Mo, etc.)

Zero accountability with the ones running the organization.

"Scapegoating?" Seriously? o_O

I see no reason why they shouldn't bench a high draft pick or two for not meeting expectations. Long overdue if you ask me.

Wasn't it you clamoring a few years ago about how players that mess up should get benched?

Told now that Cowboys believe DE George Selvie will play Sunday vs. Denver. He does have a concussion, but on track to play if no setbacks.

I hope Selvie can play Sunday night but Cowboys should be prepping Rayford and Jones just in case. I am skeptical of Wilber manning the strongside DE spot. He cannot even set the edge on the weakside.

I don't recall, it's possible. I do think it's overreacting to bench Carter off a bad game in coverage.

I agree. It might not have been you. Rivers was on fire Sunday, and that first TD to Woodhead was a laser.

I'm kind of disappointed in our LBers so far. I keep having to remind myself that they're in a new scheme, hopefully the defense is markedly better in the last 1/4 of the season than they have been in the first 1/4, namely pass defense and coverage.
