Main Player Cuts
- Brandon Carr
- Terrell McClain
Cheap resigned
- Bernadeau OL
- Lance Dunbar
- Ronald Leary OG- Place a 2nd round tender on him. great chance he gets taken by a playoff team. My guess would be Seattle who is need of Oline upgrades without killing their cap.
Notable Free agent signings
1) Colt McCoy QB- Has already been reported that Cowboys have interest in him. I like McCoy. He is a solid vet backup QB. Seeming more and more like we are not in the mindset to find a future franchise QB in this years draft.

2) Adrian Clayborn DE-
Took a cheap 1 year deal with the Falcons to try and fix his market value and it worked. He is not the top tier edge rusher Tampa Bay thought they had after recording 7.5 sacks his rookie year but he is still a decent pass rusher finishing with 3 sacks and 8.5 hurries as a rotation player in 2015. Best used on obvious rushing downs because of his solid run defense and he can multiple positions on the line. Rotates with Gregory at RDE as Gregory continues to bulk up to be a full time starter. I would give a 3 year deal worth 12 mil with 5 mil guaranteed. little to no dead money in 3rd year if we must cut him.

3) Justin Durant LB-
He was solid for us when he was healthy. was just released by Atlanta and we should bring him back. Will be cheap for how solid a player he is. Starts at SAM linebacker and is our main backup at the MIKE.

4) Patrick Robinson CB-
Robinson is an under the radar free agent at the moment. He is solid in coverage and is a good tackler. He played for cheap in San Diego this past season on a 1 year 2 million dollar deal. We have our number 1 corner in O Scan and i could see Robinson as a solid #2 corner. He wont break the bank and he is an upgrade over Carr and always injured Mo.

5) Brice McCain CB-
McCain played very well as Pittsburgh's slot corner in 2014 that he earned himself a 2 years 5.5 million dollar deal from Miami. After Miamis failed experiment of moving him to the outside, he was just recently cut to save capspace. We need any and all upgrades for our secondary as we can get and he would really help out our coverage. Signs a cheap 2 year deal as our slot corner.

(Using CBS, Walterfootball, and Drafttek to get the general draft rankings)

I'm going back to my favorite trade partner Tampa Bay. Tampa trades up after seeing Bosa falls to #4. We get Tampa bays 1st, 2nd, and 4th round picks this year. weak draft class in terms of cant miss prospects so no RGlll type haul.

9th overall.) Jaylon Smith ILB, Notre Dame- My favorite player in this years draft. I was so pissed when he ended up injured in his last collage game. If his knee is on route to a full recovery but wont be ready for the start of the season, I would gladly take here and put him on PUP. This pick is about the long term. I can see him being a 10 year defensive corner stone for us at the MIKE.

2nd.) Su'a Cravens SS, USC- like Jaylon Smith, Cravens is one of my favorite players in this years draft. He is a tremendous athlete, has good coverage skills (can cover TE's and RB's), and is always making a play on the ball in run and pass defense. A huge upgrade to our safety unit. And if Marinelli ever decides we should blitz more, he and Jaylon Smith would a nightmare in the blitz.

TB 2nd.) Vernon Butler DT, Louisiana Tech- Whats not to love about this player. He is big, violent hands, quick, and has a non stop motor. can play either 1 or 3 tech which means he is a perfect 1 tech in Marinellis scheme. Would fit perfectly in the interior next to Crawford.

3rd.) Sterling Shepard WR, Oklahoma- As we saw this past year, our receiving corp is horrible outside Dez and Witten. This is when Shepard comes in. He is this years Tyler Lockett. This is about where Tyler Lockett went last draft and i can see Shepard falling to here as well due to his size.

4th.) Johnathan Williams RB, Arkansas- With the reports that McFadden will be our top back next season, a young back is needed in this years draft. one of my favorite RB in this years draft. He is a big physical between the tackles runner but he also has quick feet and easily side steps tacklers in small spaces. Good in picking up the blitz as well. We get a short yardage back who can be a bell cow if needed to. Also leaves us open to take one of the many 1st round talent RB's in next years draft.

Tb 4th.) Nick Vannett TE, Ohio State- With Escobar injured and Hanna hitting free agency, a back up TE is needed. He is one of my pet cats in this years draft. He is already a great run and pass blocker and he has decent catching ability. let him learn behind Witten and maybe he can develop into a safety blanket type TE down the line. makes an impact right away as a blocker.
4th Comp.) Cyrus Jones CB, Alabama- I know most want a corner with size but jones has coverage skills, aggression, physicality, and tackling ability to last in the nfl. not to mention he has long arms so he plays bigger then u expect. Since Corner is a position u dont just come in right away and do well in, i would draft him for the future. can play as ur dime corner and will eventually become our slot corner. makes impact right away as our Punt returner.

6th.) D.J. Pettway DE, Alabama- The forgotten 4th player on Alabama's defensive line. He has the speed, strength, and aggressiveness you want out of a edge rusher. seemed to always be in the backfield. Sounds like he should go before the 6th round right? Well here is the catch. He was kicked off of Alabama's program for his role in an alleged robbery before being brought back for the 2015 season. Could be this years Frank Clark.

This has been one of my favorite mocks. most of the holes are covered and are done in a more realistic way then my past mocks. upgraded our corner back situation without putting a player on a huge long term contract.

Improved the front 7 through cheap free agent signings. Adrian Clayborn seems like the biggest name we would realistically go after in free agency this year. save the cap to keep our Oline and potentially our duo of edge rushers in a couple years.

I'm sure just signing Colt McCoy then saying our QB situation is fixed would piss off a lot of poster on here but you better be prepared for something like this to happen.

Go defense early in this draft and improve the depth on offense in the mid rounds. allows us to use next years day 1 and 2 picks on skill position players with McFadden & Terrance Williams contracts up.

Adrian clayborne had 3.5 sacks in 2015? How is that an upgrade over hardy or jack crawford? I see that as a downgrade. Theres also no guarantee that gregory will produce.

I'm going off the report that Hardy will not be back as well as the mind set that players like Mario Williams and possibly Demarcus Ware will still cost a premium to get. Yea its fun to say just spend on them but will they?

plus what was the point of drafting Gregory if we wont put any trust in him?

Other more productive options at DE would be Robert Ayers (9 sacks last year and is an UFA) or Vernon but he would cost a bit more - but probably we could have him in the same range that Hardy got this year. At DT, the broncos Malik ( forgot his last name) is decent.

In regards to Gregory, hes still too small ( light) at DE. There where just two more articles published recently expressing concern about how he will hold up. He needs 1-2 more years to bulk up and develop, but in the meantime the Cowboys and Romo cant wait on his development.

All the playoff teams had 42-52 sacks. Gregory, lawrence, hayden, and T crawford, irving, and Russell wont get you half of that.

The Dolphins are already cutting players and clearing cap space because Vernon is #1 priority of Miamis offseason and the Giants have over 50 million in cap space. they wont let Ayers walk. Especially to the Cowboys. unless we plan on restructuring multiple players just to try and pry a good edge rusher in free agency(and completely overpay for good but not great player), its best to trust in the young fella that was considered a top 5 talent in last years draft.

I like the draft in concept. I'm a little concerned about taking Smith No. 1 considering his injury. But the potential is definitely there. I'm glad you included a running back, but I see no developmental quarterback.

I'm kind of divided between taking a quarterback with our first pick or focusing on defense. But I definitely think we need to get a running back, and if we're going to trade down, I'm leaning more toward Ezekiel Elliott. I just think he'll have a greater impact on this team - both offensively and defensively.

I like draft saturation on the defensive side. They all would come in ready to hit someone and leave a mark.

Remember, the Cowboys have a bit of inside knowledge on Smith as it was their team surgeon who did the surgery. So if anyone has the true down and dirty on Smith, it would be the Cowboys.

So if they end up taking Smith, sure it might not work out, but you can be assured that they made the pick with the best knowledge available.

I'm looking at Jaylon Smith like how the Rams looked at Gurley last year. If his knee will fully recover and his knee wont be huge concern the rest of career then ill gladly take the player. I was going to put a QB with 4th round got from Tampa Bay but i sneaked in a pet cat in Vannett. I would switch him our for Brissett or Cardale Jones.

I actually originally had Ezekiel Elliott at 9 till i heard someone say, but what about next year when their are potentially 4 RB's coming out next draft with 1st round grades? so i took a RB who i felt is flying under the radar due to injury.

I didn't know that. Thanks for the added information.
Although I'm still a bit leery in taking an injured or formerly (recently) injured player, this may just be an unfounded fear on my part.
