1st round (#27): Florida C Maurkice Pouncey
Big, versatile C takes over for Gurode in the near future. Smart and quick. Very adept at the shot-gun snap. A future line of Free, Gurode, Pouncey, Davis and Brewster looks pretty good to me.

2nd round (#59): Illinois WR Arrelious "Rejus" Benn
Inconsistent, but highly talented WR. Plays and runs tough like Anquan Boldin. Able to contribute as a kick-returner.

3rd round (#91): Indiana OT Roger Saffold

Strong, athletic and mobile 4-year starter becomes the swing player at OT and OG.

4th round (#123): Syracuse DT Arthur Jones

Active, rugged interior lineman who made a living in the opponent's backfield. Provides insurance in case a deal can't be worked out to retain Spears beyond 2010. At the least, allows us to rotate in a starting quality lineman off the bench.

6th round: (#187): Arizona CB Devin Ross

Slippery cover corner. Still raw but has all the requisite tools. Quality gunner on special teams.

7th round: (#219): Nebraska ILB Phillip Dillard
Smart, intense LB who stepped up big against Oklahoma: 8 tackles, 2 for loss, a sack and interception. Quite capable of playing 3 downs and provides excellent coverage against backs and TEs.

good players but I don't think Benn and Arthur Jones will last til where you have them going.

I'd be a little disappointed if Pouncey is our 1st rounder. He makes very little impact in 2010.

why no safety?

I'm not married to certain positions. I just like these guys better.

Plus I'm kind of intrigued at the thought of Alan Ball making the full-time switch to FS.

I'm going by how NFLDS has them ranked right now.

Of course everything could change after the Combine.

Regarding Pouncey, rookies rarely are ever asked to provide impacts their rookie seasons for us. Look at the big picture. We need a smart line-caller.

i like the idea of drafting a center but looking it from jerry's perspective this would be a wasted 1st rd pick.Gurode will be the center here for 4 more years atleast (if he is healthy).that means you are drafting a guy who may never get to start unless there is a injury.I think JJ would rather tradedown in such a situation.

I put that into consideration. Gurode moves to LG.

Pouncey has the size and ability to play OG and depending on who you ask could possibly even move to RT. He has the feet for it. I have actually really started leaning towards Pouncey in round 1 if Mike the Dozier is not there. Actually leaning towards another Gator as well in Spikes......hmmm

Even if Pouncey stays at Center. Can't you just imagine him combo blocking with Gurode, and better yet...Bigg on running plays?? *drools*

I don't like the idea of taking a center in the first round, and I like Gurode where he is anyway. Favorite pick is Saffold, and I like Dillard in the 7th. I'm still not sure on Benn, I'd kind of like for us to draft a faster guy but he is about the size and build of players we like.

I like Pouncy in the first, but I'd put him at guard and leave Gurode alone. I'm not familiar with Saffold, so I can't comment accurately, but an OL I absolutely love in the third is John Jerry. I don't think Benn will fall to 59 but I'd snatch him in a second if he does. Jones would be a steal in the 4th.

You need to get unintrigued with that thought. He is to small.

His ability to play the position aisde, he's not too small. 6'1 - 190 is pretty good and he's added weight every year he's been here. He came in at 175 lbs and weighed in a 188 this year, so obviously he has been working hard to put on good mass. If he came in next year at close to 200, I wouldn't be surprised.

Bob, don't mean to **** on your draft but, the odds of Jerry drafting a C in round 1, considering he's never drafted an OL in round 1 in 21 years is about 100 to 1, then you expect him to allow Gurode to be moved to G? 1,000 to 1 on this scenario

That's what I thought he mean at first but he means Pauncy moves to guard.

I don't think so. He clearly has Pouncey at C and Gurode at LG.

Hey, Bob.

Vela has Dallas taking Pouncy at # 27, too.

Vela says he could start at guard. Remember, they wanted Unger last year, and Pouncy is rated much higher than Unger this year.

He gets rid of Proctor.

Plus, he's your future center when Gurode stops making Pro Bowls.

I like that pick, even though he's a Gator.

If we do draft him, the plan would probably be for him to compete for the LG position. Hopefully down the road he replaces Gurode. We need to get smarter at C.
