Pre-season Observation So Far

Game 1 we had way too many penalties. Dumb mistakes caused them.

The last 2 games have been much better. I think Parcells played Game 1 really vanilla so he could really do some yelling to motivate.

We nearly came back and won game 1. It shows me there is a mindset on this team to keep coming. I think that is what Brad Sham meant by a Super Bowl atmosphere.

I am quite happy with the defense so far. Still not happy with the offense. We simply aren't scoring enough.

We need a kicker badly. I hate them, but it's obvious we're in for a Maalox season if we can't find one.

Overall, I'm not unhappy, but I'm not ready to annoint this team yet either.

I really wish some guys would get their butts healthy and we had a full team to look at and make up our minds.

Hopefully, Rivera, Fergy, and Spears play next game.

I think Spears definitely will, not sure about the status of the other 2 guys.

Good analysis Hostile. Pretty happy with the defense. Would like the OL to be less sieve like during the game (Although the last 5 minutes they looked really good)

I'm not unhappy either. Knowing the way Parcells is playing the defense really vanilla makes me happy as to how we have responded.

I think the offense can do some things given the proper protection for Bledsoe. Crayton is offically my boy now.

I am hoping Rivera really soilidifies the OL.

We're getting sacks and turnovers the last 2 games. That is huge. We're not allowing many points. Much bigger IMO.

To be an elite team we need to score as well.

My observation - we seem to run the ball better with Gurode at center and our overall depth has shown in all 3 games. Our 2nd and 3rds have dominated the other teams 2nd and 3rds. That makes me feel alot better about certain cuts and the fact that we will get Spears, Fergy, Rivera and Pepper back next week.

Oh yeah, our defense has only really struggled vs. three wide sets when we don't counter wit our nickle. Our base defense is getting better in the 3 wide sets. Comforting.

Yes, but the 2000 Ravens were "elite", and they won the Super Bowl despite going through a 6 week span without scoring an offensive TD.

Speaking of Berry-O, if BP can manage his knee situation, I think Coady just knocked Scott off the roster once and for all with his performance tonight.

Our defense isn't near being that good. Maybe in a season or two, but not this year.

The feeling I am getting is he is headed for the IR. Maybe that is best so he will be 100% next year instead of gimping through this year. What is your take Hos?

One thing I've been struck by in these first 3 games, that nobody else seems to have mentioned, is that our second and third teamers have consistently gotten the best of the other teams' second and third teamers... to me, this suggests that the quality of our depth is better than most teams, and this will almost certainly come in handy as the season progresses and the injury bug bites...

I'm rather encouraged by this...

Oooooops, I see that 50cent DID mention this, and in this thread... which just proves that he's pretty perceptive, LOL...

You know lost in the shuffle tonite was the TD run for Julius...Two Texans had the angle on him and he shrugged them off like a case of bad flu. Ironically, the last guy to try and tackle him could have only done it with a horse collar....and Julius was like..."Get off me!"....He is quicksilver.

Outstanding point actually. Too oftne overlooked when debating how a player has done.

I see very few players who are simply dogs. Especially on defense. Very encouraged there. If we can sustain a running game with a good OL and control the clock I like this team a lot from top to bottom.

I think there are some tough cuts coming up over the next week or so...

I said the same thing about our depth last week during the game chat. I feel like we should win most all our preseason games. The first team should hang close, but our depth should allow us to pull the games out. You saw it tonight and last week also. We missed a FG in the first game or we would be 3-0.

I just asked this question in another post. Did Coady play that well? Do you think he might also be considered to kick Beriault off the squad also since BP is concerned w/the health of Beriault?
