Predict the 53 Man Roster: Part I - The Safeties

OK, so who is the smarty pants that didnt vote for Roy?

My choices would be... Roy Williams, Justin Beriault, Keith Davis and Pat Watkins.

My choices would be... Roy Williams, Justin Beriault, Keith Davis and Pat Watkins.

I concur. I don't think we will keep more than 4 Safetys which means that we will have to cut someone that we'd like to keep and I believe it will be Coleman who gets the axe unless injury decides it before then.

Roy is a no-brainer, Beriault and Watkins are young and have lots of up-side, Davis was just inked to a big contract and is a STs ace. That leaves Coleman as the odd man out. He is older and wasn't all that impressive lst season. He was brought in as insurance in case we couldn't pick up a guy in the draft, which we did in Watkins, or if the young guys don't pan out.

I think we keep more than 4 by listing Coleman as a corner. I think Pile makes the team.

Thats what I said but it will be tough to let Berry-O go, hopefully we can sign him to our practice squad.

I chose Williams,Davis,Beriault and Watkins.

2 big assumptions with this prediction:

1. Beriault's knee is healthy

2. Watkins shows a lot of potential as a day 1 starter.

If those two happen Coleman is gone. If one of the above don't happen Coleman stays.

Question - can Coleman still play a nickel corner in a pinch and cover the slot guy?

If so he is kept as a sixth corner or 5th safety.

Lookin' like Roy Williams, Keith Davis, and Pat Watkins are the popular choices with Marcus Coleman and Justin Beriault competing for a potential 4th or 5th spot. Willie Pile also has a surprisingly strong fanbase. We'll see how the percentages for Beriault, Coleman and Pile compare to other positions before making a final Zone elected 53 man roster.

I don't think Pile can be put on the PS as he has played more than 2 NFL seasons or something like that.

Even if he could go, I would bet a team with depth issues at safety snatches someone like him pretty quickly.

By the way, I was checking and its any player who has been on the active roster and dressed for the game day 45 man for 9 games is no longer eligible for any practice squad.

Those are my fours as well. I think Pile has a chance to play in special teams as well as Beriault.
