Now that the big signings like Looney and Ladouceur are in place, we have fewer roster spots to fill and are getting closer to the draft.

The spots we need to fill are CB, S, RDE, 1T DT, TE, WR3, Swing Tackle. I’m not listing back of the roster spots like the LB4 spot, the 3rd RB, the 5th WR, etc.

The options are:

Free Agent

Draft Choice

3rd tier FA late in offseason

Salary trade like Quinn

I think one of these positions is filled by a surprise Quinn-like trade, but mine would be:

CB – Draft

S – FA (Von Bell)

RDE – Draft

1T DT – Free Agent

TE – Jarwin starts plus a late draft choice

WR3 – FA (Sanders)

Swing Tackle – late FA (Older veteran who played for McCarthy in the past) and a developmental draft pick

So what would your predictions be?

ROSTER

QB – Dak, Rush

RB – Zeke, Pollard, Olawale, UDFA

WR – Cooper, Gallup, Sanders, #3 Draft Pick, Devin Smith, Cedric Wilson/JonVea Johnson

TE – Jarwin, Schultz, Draft Pick

OT – Smith, Collins, late FA, #5 Draft Pick

OG – Martin, Williams, McGovern, late draft pick

C – Frederick, Looney

DE – DLaw, #1 Pick, Armstrong, Crawford (restructured), Gregory/Jackson/Jelks

DT – McCoy, Late Free Agent, Woods, Trysten Hill

LB – Smith, LVE, Sean Lee, #4 Draft Pick, Gifford

CB – #2 Draft Pick, Awuzie, Lewis, Brown, Canaday

Safety – Von Bell, Woods, Late FA, Donovan Wilson

On the DT part, do you think Irving might get a sniff as well? Could be better than some late free agent, possibly if he can get in shape.

Bring him into camp with an incentive and roster set of cap figures...

I would love to see it but I don't think they would plan on that as a primary option. I think he is a camp invite who could surprise. That's why I put Randy Gregory as a backup, they want him on the roster but they aren't going to depend on him being the starter.

I can’t predict the future. If I did, the infected world as we know it ends.

I predict Dak gets signed post-tag.

Here's what I would do:

RDE - Clowney - Playmaker. Can play either with his hand in the dirt or in a 2-point. Ultimate multiples front weapon. Would love to see him and Jaylon standing up in the A-gaps.

S - Adrian Philips - Excellent in run support and can hold his own in underneath man or zone coverage. Shouldn't and won't play much deep coverage.

NT - Mike Pennel - Great anchor in the run game to play in the ~ 30% non sub-package snaps.

CB - Draft

Swing tackle - Already on roster - either Knight or Connor Williams depending on LG battle between Williams and McGovern.

WR3 - Draft - as early as 17 if one of the top 3 fall.

This cleans up roster holes and allows draft flexibility, letting the board come to them and not having to reach.

EDIT: Almost forgot, cut Crawford and use the $8m towards Clowney.

I would cry tears of joy to sign Vonn Bell. Followed him since college

I like yours better than mine. I don't like having to draft for need, that is how you get Taco Charlton. Or you have the growing pains of Conner Williams, who is fine now but was below average as a rookie.

What do you think it takes to sign Clowney? I like him at the right price but his ask would have to drop quite a bit for me to be on board.

I'm hoping the fact he didn't get overpaid in the first wave combined with the Dick Nolan connection lands him in Dallas. I'd be OK with our secondary at that point even if you end up starting Jourdan Lewis at CB.

Sign Shelby Harris DT
Sign Emanuel Sanders WR
Look into Jadevon Clowney try and convince him to come here to play.
Cut Tyron Crawford to make room for Clowney.

Go into the draft focused on secondary LB OL and DL
Pick 17 if C.J. Henderson is t there move back pray ne of the QBs fall. Or OT. If you move back Grante Delpit
51 Damon Arnette CB
82 Akeem Davis-Gaither LB
Then fill in from there
Reggie Robinson II and Thockmartin some where afyer that

Predict what they will do????
They will sign another DB, one which probably won't make the team.
They will sign another TE, although he won't be better than what they presently have.
They will tell us about how great the guys are we have.
Clowney will not sign with us.
They will talk about Armstong or Jelks or Jackson is the next coming and about how hard they have worked this offseason -- then use a draft pick mid season to pick up a veteran to hold down the position temporarily.
They will sign a no name late round draft pick for the DT position that will be a little underweight and show nice at the beginning of the season, but be injured towards the end of the season, and tell me that injury is the reason that the DL didn't shine.

I have history on my side when I make these predictions.

For him to still be unsigned, I don’t think he’s getting the long term $20m+ AAV he’s looking for. If he’d take a 3 or 4 year deal at $18m per I’d jump on that.

If he’s looking to for a one year “prove it” type deal to get back on the market next year, that’s where I’d get creative. I’d offer him the same 3 or 4 year at $18m per but with a void tied to performance. If he’s an all-pro, or has 12+ sacks something like that his contract voids after the first year and he can cash in in FA. But if he’s hurt or has another productive but unspectacular year, he’s still locked into a long term, market value deal.

It would look something like this:

3/54 with $35 million guaranteed and a $10 million dollar signing bonus and $10m 2020 salary.

He gets his $20m cash but at only a $13.3m cap hit.

Contract voids on the 2nd day of the 2021 league year if the player reaches agreed upon X incentive. The remaining $20 million guarantees on the 3rd day of the 2021 league year. This would protect the team from owing the remaining guaranteed money if he leaves, while also providing extra leeway to extend him before the prorated bonus accelerates onto the cap.

You have Trysten Hill making the final roster? I dont see it and I certainly hope a call was made to Vegas to if they give us a loaf of stale bread for him. Thank God Marinelli is gone his eye for talent is why the DLine has been a mess. He is like the house guest that clogs your toilet on the way out the door and tells you to have a nice day.

They have done well about being creative in contracts, Zeke's deal was a good example. If it was 3/55, they could definitely fit him in for a cap hit of 12 Million or so in the first year.

I still haven't made up my mind on Clowney, but I LOVE the idea of our run defense up front if the front 4 is DLaw, Clowney, McCoy and Antwuan Woods. That would be an excellent group against the run, especially with LVE, Jaylon and Sean Lee behind them.

Its way too early to give up on a 2nd round pick after one season. I have no idea what he does on the field next year, but I really don't think they cut him outright.

Imagine all the great players some fans would have cut after a lackluster first season or 2 had they had their way.

I'm hoping for WR Emmanuel Sanders, but my gut says we will sign a WR more like Demarcus Robinson

At S, they will sign either Damarius Randall or Ha Ha Clinton-Dix

At DT, they will sign Al Woods from Seattle. This is your big 1tech.

LB, they will re-sign Joe Thomas. He is familiar with McCarthy.

In the draft, they will go after a CB in round 1, a DE in round 2 and a WR in round 3

Starting with Exhibit A, Demarcus Lawrence. First he wasn't worth the draft day trade, then he was made a glass and then presto, chango! He's an overpaid Pro Bowler!
