Predicting Leary's FA Value

He played very well and the line seemed to get better when he came in the lineup. With that being said Risen, what would you do with Collins? Backup or bump him out to RT to compete with or replace Free?

RT. He's a better player than Leary but Free is the weak link. I want to keep the best 5 and fortify what is already a strength of the team. Others just want to belch out the team's press release.

He is.

Collins is the starter at LG.

I ought to send you a link to the Cowboys' depth chart.

That's cute.

I know you already know this, Ronald, but I was talking about Collins at RT.

Ya know, that wacky idea I had that doesn't go with the impeccable personnel department in Frisco, Tx.

Tell me again how you're going to like our draft BEFORE we even draft a player. That was your best one yet.

It's time to stop thinking you are better at evaluating OL than professionals that have developed the best OL in football. I like the idea of Collins at RT too but my hubris only goes so far.

This goes doubly when you consider we have never seen Collins play RT.

You can pay Leary or you can pay Martin and still keep the OLine's cap hit in check. I know which one I pay, the better player without a potentially problematic knee.

You get into trouble paying good like it's elite. Leary is good, but he's not elite.

He isnt a top guard though. He is a good guard but there are probably atleast 20 guys as good if not better than him. He very well could benefit from being sandwiched between two elite players.

Seriously? If you think there are 20 guards better than Leary, I'm glad you're not on our pro player evaluation team.
He'll be an eagle or giant and a pain in our azz for a while is my guess.

Lol, I'm glad you're not either if you would pay him all pro money. He isnt a top guard, he is a nice player that is tough between tackles, but you can sandwich an average guard between Fredrick and Smith and the dropoff would be minimal, but the cost savings would be huge...

Operation Discredit Ronald Leary.

But you already knew that, Joseph.

There are 64 starting guards. He put them in the top third. That does directly to what Stephen Jones likes to talk about paying good players great money in unrestricted free agency.

What is routine is you making this accusation in early spring. We can also look forward to you deifying some mid round player and acting like regurgitating other's prospect rankings and watching college football makes you some sort of authority on the draft.

I'm not paying him all pro money, but he's a top 10 guard. You may not like his knee, but he's a damn good and nasty player.

He is what he is, a good player who can start for nearly any team but he isnt elite. There are 64 starting guards in the NFL, he is better than the average and even if he grades between 20th and 30th that is pretty good.

I woud like to see the F.O find a way to keep Leary. He is a solid guy.

His meanness is what adds to his value. He has a nasty edge that the Cowboys can use.

Rank for me your top 10 guards in the NFL... I don't always agree with pro football focus but I just looked Leary, 21st rated guard...

Yeah, Collins at RT...

Maybe he can play TE too.

I suppose I'll have to wait until your "eye" tells us if he can or not.

It seems to me Leary being a top 10 guard isn't that likely. Leary could be a top 10 LG.
