Lawson's low sack total (which is what most people reference when criticizing his rookie play) actually has a decent explanation. The 49ers were forced to play 4-3 and they had Lawson splitting time at OLB in the 4-3, a position he isn't exactly suited for and doesn't provide the oppotunity to rack up sacks rushing the QB. If they're able to go to the 3-4 fulltime I'm sure Lawson will certainly get a lot more opportunities to rush the QB.Vintage;1411951 said:Yeah, well, his boy Manny Lawson didn't exactly tear it up this past year either.
