Prediction: James Hanna, Alex Albright

When we signed James Hanna last year, I spent hours viewing any available footage of him at Oklahoma. I was so impressed that I kept going back and watching it over and over-I was like "this guy is unreal"...He's got speed, moves and good hands. I was mostly impressed with his speed though and really thought the Boys would have used him a lot more last year AT WIDE RECEIVER in place of Miles Austin when he was out with his injuries. Anyway I boldly predict that if Hanna stays healthy and doesn't suffer a career ending injury he will be a lock for the Hall of Fame when he retires.

Alex Albright is another talented player we still haven't seen a lot of. Look at his college tape and the few games he played in the last couple of years with the Cowboys. The guy has great quickness and always seems to get himself into a position to make the play. He reminds me a little of Ted Hendricks the "Mad Stork" that played for the Raiders back in the day. Anyway, I boldly predict that Albright will make All-Pro anytime he's allowed to play as a starter at defensive end, even with another team, as long as he can stay healthy too.

Thoughts gentlemen?

He was already a better receiver than Austin last year IMHO...even when Austin was healthy. And Albright is one of the reasons they didn''t sign Spencer long term. Cowboys missed the boat on these two by not playing them more.

My thought is "wow" when I read your post.

Now there is nothing wrong with wanting to see your pet cats to do well but this prediction of "HOF" and "All-Pro" from two players who have had very limited contribution thus far is just crazy.

How about lets wait and see if they can become starters first, then lets wait and see how productive they are first before making crazy wild predictions. :)

I like Albright's versatility but there is no way he becomes an All-Pro! He's definitely the RKG, though.

I'm not sure where Albright fits. I really like the player though. He's going to have a hard time winning a job at LB IMO. I think he can play the Sam. I'm just not sure he has the speed to stay with some of the TEs. You try to protect someone like him at the Sam but the offense is going to get players who are quicker and faster isolated on him at times. At DE he's on the small side. He's not as strong as I'd like at the SDE. He may be quick enough but can he turn the corner well enough. Does he have the repertoire of moves necessary. Can he bull rush? We'll see.

I don't see a problem splitting or moving Hanna wide but I don't know if he can change directions and run routes like Austin. It takes more than speed esp against a good CB. Better to put him on big and slower LBs or against a slower than most CBs safety.

A bit premature for calls for the HOF and All-Pro picks but they're great goals for both players.

I doubt that seriously. Albright had LOTS of opportunities to stand out last year, and, to be honest, I never really thought he did. I dont think he's as much of a lock to make the team as others do.

I think Hanna is going to get a lot more time than Escobar. I'm thinking that they drafted Escobar because they had such a high grade on him and they figured they needed another TE anyway. Then they thought they could probably use him in goal line situations. But, I think Hanna is going to beat him out for the #2 TE spot and contribute more than people think.

Albright is practiced at LB, not DE in the OTAs and mini-camp.

Jobberone, thanks you for your reply. I may be overraeacting to the videos I saw of them on YouTube.

Premature, I'll admit, but why not predict it now? just thinking ahead. Witten may be in worse medical shape than we are led to be believe; that 's why they went after Escobar?

Spencer not being signed long term; maybe Albright replaces him? Crawford didn't impress me last year.

I'll havte to check on Albright's weight, if he bulked up it would help him at DE, which is where I see him excelling-watch his college videos-the guy is a beast.

The snaps that Albright played last season were at ILB. He didn't play OLB, the 3-4 position most similar to 4-3 DE. It was reported that all of his practice snaps in OTAs and mini-camp were at LB, not DE.

The Cowboys website has him listed at 6-5, 260. That is bigger than Ware's "listed" size of 6-4, 254; however, he would have to practice the position (DE) in order to be a candidate to play it.

Oh what a night...

Good lord...these are amazingly bad predictions/projections. I guess that is what you get in the lull between the end of basketball and waiting for traininig camp to kick off. I like both players, but to think that is either being a blind homer or just not having a basic understanding of football.
