Looking for some prediction's on Chris Johnson's 40 time, im gonna say.......................4.26

He'll run a 3.9, and as soon as he crosses the finish line, release a parachute to slow him down...

Do one of the other measurements give a better reading than a 40?
For running backs the combine is pretty much useless other than to get their real body measurements.

40 time for a RB is pretty meaningless.

:hammer:

Anyone here can take the fastest RB in the draft. In any draft, ever.

I'll take Emmitt Smith or Walter Peyton. Then we'll see who ends up with a better RB.

Alot of it also has to do with running style, not just speed. The fastest guys in the draft are typically smaller guys who shy away from contact and are used to out-running everyone. When they reach the NFL they can't do that and usually end up struggling because they can't adapt.

Guys like Emmitt and Peyton didn't have that top speed so they learned how to read holes, set up blocks, and make people miss but they were also able to shake tackles. That made them better overall backs and thus they were able to succeed at higher levels.

He'll run a 4.37.

Charles will run the fastest in the entire class at 4.29.

And keep in mind that the difference between a 4.3 and 4.4 is miniscule. Grab a stopwatch and try and start/stop it within .1 seconds. Not an easy thing.

The purpose of the combine is simply to reflect what you see on the field in an individual setting and affirm one's status from what you've seen on tape and in person (or, in Mike Mamula's case, sucker the Eagles).

I think they should have to carry an egg on a spoon while being timed...would give more insight to the player.

Draft analysis- Was rocketing up draft boards til he dropped the egg. Now considered 5-7 round selection.

Best. Idea. Ever.

After that, they should have a sack race and play pin the tail on the donkey, all timed of course. I'd tune in for that.

They can finish it all off with an Easter Egg Hunt and a game of musical chairs.

I personally like the parachute post.

The question is will he be allowed in the NFL after the combine, because he is too fast. That's what I'm worried about.

I think the 10-yard dash is a pretty important gauge, it measures burst

I think the cone drill is more important myself, measures acceleration and agility. I think acceleration coming out of a turn is a good measure for RBs.
