Use your top picks on premium positions that cost the most on the open market. Getting that 5th year option is huge for these expensive extensions. Positions like off the ball linebacker, Safety, guard, RB are far cheaper to sign then an edge, corner, wide receiver.

Im hoping for Bailey, but Howell is growing on me too. If GB stays around 21, we could probably get a good DE there as well. Id also take Woods in a heartbeat if he falls. Clemson defenders could be value coming off a down year. Particularly Woods and Parker

Disagree especially with a weak blue chip draft like this one is looking to be. I am tired of the Taco, Joseph, Sam Williams, Guyton, and Kneelands that have killed our roster over the last few seasons. If we can draft Love and an offensive lineman that would make our offense unstoppable. You do it. If you get a chance to draft the top 2 linebackers (Styles, Allen) you do it and have 3 sideline to sideline linebackers that one can even play strong safety. Just don’t reach for need or value. You will end up with a Boss Man Fat.

I'm not taking the #5 Edge over the #1 LB, but if equally valued, taking the more premium position.

I would usually agree but in order to cash in on Daks window we can not wait on development.

Edge is my top priority and I do not want to count on a rookie to fix our DE room.
Been saying for months, have to sign or trade for a fa starter at the position due to the steep learning curve that these prospects face coming into the league. Add another to develop in the draft and start as a rotational piece.

Bailey/Howell appear to be the best pure pass rushers which we sorely lack. Add a veteran starter with one of them, will go a long way in fixing the pass rush. Woods would be a best player available selection, too good to pass up.

100%...*** those picks.
As I told darth a few weeks ago, there is still buzz post trade deadline that Crosby would be interested in coming to the Cowboys. He would be the perfect fit for that strong-side DE position with high level rush abilities. I would jump at the chance teaming him up with Williams.

I 100% agree with this.
I feel like this position, and how Jerry handles it in the offseason, will tell everyone what to expect next season.
Outside of Reese, I don’t see any of these edges in this draft making an immediate impact next year on a consistent basis.
Look at EZ yesterday. He’s this team’s best edge and he couldn’t make a sack against LA’s 3rd string LT. I still have hope for him, but this team needs an impact player on the other end.
If Jerry doesn’t address this glaring need with an actual impact player and does his usual dumpster diving in FA/hoping to fix in draft, then forget about next year being any different defensively than this year in any real meaningful way.

Yes, they have to make 2 significant signings at the very least.
we need veteran LBs and a vet DE. If we keep clowney i think we are ok; counting on Eze to develop.
The LBs need to be ones that sniff things out and thump
while I would love Caleb Downs in the draft I do not see him dropping to us. Which is why I would also get a vet FS.
IF we could do that, then I think the D could be top 15 or better next season. Good enough if our Offense does like this year
OT has to be fixed though

FA will be extremely important this yr, especially if we do change coordinators. Edge is an absolute must as they just lost 3 this year in DLaw, Parsons and Kneeland along with prospects need time to develop. Rather upgrade over Clowney, who has been good, but at his age, how many more productive/healthy years can we expect?

Think signing a fa starting MLB and FS make a ton of sense and would still allow them to take one in the draft if one they like falls to them. These are the so called coaches on the field that gets everyone lined up and knows what their responsibilities are.

They do have some options at tackle, adding a veteran to compete with them makes the most sense. Perhaps, a swing tackle type.

we need two LBS
Overshown is still a serious question mark

Edge FAs are not good...Hendrickson is the big name but he is getting old.

I think we would have to trade.

There are a few older guys like Bosa, Mack, Reddick. Upside guys like Chaisson who is having a good season and Mafe.
