Our main weapon can't be #85 I'm sorry
The problem is having #85 be #2 or #3….I’m not sure there’s much difference right now. A team can double or bracket your #1. That’s a fact unless the OC schemes him to avoid that. That means the QB has to look to #2 or #3 to beat single coverage and make catches. I haven’t given up on Gallup, but the fact is he has never caught enough passes to be a #2. He was always the guy who made 2-3 catches a game, sometime 1-2 big plays. That’s pretty much the definition of a #3 or maybe even a number 4.

Lamb is clearly our #1. When a team takes him away or he’s covered, slips, whatever, who is our possession receiver who consistently moves the chains? We haven’t had that guy since Beasley was in his prime. Except for drops, Ceedee was that guy when Cooper was taken away. Say what you want about his poor play today, but every time Dak had decent protection, he was shifting his feet and eyes from one side of the field to the other and back again, desperate to find someone to throw the ball to. Tonight it seemed the Commanders were running our routes, glued to the receivers. Even Schultz and the RBs were never running free.

Next week, no matter what the game plan is, Moore has to be ready to disrupt the defense with crossing routes and picks, bunch formations, misdirection, etc. All these dig and comeback routes are too predictable unless mixed with other things.

Just curious but is it always just Dak's fault? Its never anyone else's fault? If we had Josh Allen instead of Dak how would things go? He throws picks in a far more innovative offense than what we throw out there.
I’m labeled a Dak hater, but my criticisms are not reserved purely for Dak. Far from it.

I know you see my posts in the game threads every week. I criticize anyone who I feel deserves it.

This individual loss was a total team catastrophe. Secondary was disgusting, Maher missed, Anger is beyond bad all of a sudden, and the offensive line is looking worse than some of the lines Romo had to play with.

But Dak is also to blame. And I openly state that. What irritates me is how people like @America's Cowboy who get so defensive when someone dares criticize Dak and always shift blame away from him.

I mean, I'm the last guy to defend him but we really do need better weapons.

We can't lose sight of that while blaming him.
This team has been missing a consistent WR who can beat coverage in the short and intermediate zones. A receiver who cannot be covered in the first 3-4 steps.

We don't have an Welker/Edelman type of guy in the receiving corp.

Yes it's always his fault. If we were lucky enough to have Josh we might have won a bowl already and the very least, have been in two.

Lol. He threw a pass that was almost an int...said dang I really wanted to pass it to the defense...why didn't they catch it? Then proceeded to throw the same exact pass for a pick six. I'm starting to wonder if dak or Moore are shaving points. It's ridiculous.

I’m not defending Dak with this, just pointing out another flaw that is there even when Dak has a good game. We just cannot live and die on Lamb having 100 yard games with multiple TDs every week, especially against a good defense. It’s too late to add a true number 2 who may someday be a #1 this year, so Moore has to make sure a defense cannot take Lamb away. Today, almost every pass was closely defended, and YAC was never available.

It was almost like we gave the starters the day off, but we didn’t. Lol

But yea, he was crappy today. He wasn’t alone.

I am a Dak fan and I will say this:

I expected this after the slow start. He gets greedy and tries to force shots that aren't there. He lets one mistake (the early pick six) force him into thinking "I have to make some big plays to make up for this".

It's been his MO this year. Hasn't really been turnover prone in the past so this is new territory for him. The Cowboys need to reel him back in, give him some easy starter throws, and stop trying to convert him into the quarterback he is not.

It really is that simple.
