Texas can win it all behind QB Vince Young who is one of the special players returning this fall. HC Mack Brown’s club could surprise and get their ring this year. USC goes for an unprecedented third straight title. With B Matt Leinart and runner Reggie Bush they could run the table again. The Tennessee Vols may have their best club in a decade and should be the class of the SEC this fall. The Michigan Wolverines have the most experienced club in the Big Ten and at key positions. They may not get tested till late in the season. The Sooners hope the graduation of Jason White does not set them back in the Big 12 where the Longhorns look like the class of the conference. Ohio St. relies on a very tough veteran defense to get past a difficult early schedule which may determine their fate this fall. LSU looks to rebound after only a good ’04 season in HC Nick Saban’s farewell campaign. Va. Tech is always a hunger club that comes to play every week. Miami will have to earn its titles in the ACC after a decade of dominance in the Big East. Florida begins the Urban Meyer reign with dreams of a national title within a short period and they may be right. The Aggies of A&M may be the surprise club of the year but face a tough end of season schedule. The Iowa club relies on a sound defense and smarts to get the most out of their quality team. Louisville looks for a conference title in their first season in the Big East. They are clearly the favorite entering the season. Georgia is always loaded and looks to challenge for the SEC title. FSU is young and gets tested early which should set the pace for the ’05 season. Texas Tech will light up the scoreboard once again and face a soft early schedule that should elevate this status.
