Everyone is getting all worked up about the redzone, yadda yadda, garrett yadda yadda.

Im realllllllyy doubting Garrett is going to unleash everything hes got new for the year in preseason with Kitna/McGee playing QB.

Why show all our cards by Aug 12? Its just preseason guys, relax.

I agree that is it pre season and I don't read much into the results. I do think this is where the coaches need to jump on some players as a wake up call. Winning and losing at this stage means nothing but you want to go out and execute things you have worked on all week long leading up to the game.

Agreed. Just get through the games without any major injuries.

While I don't disagree with the sentiment, it's amazing how the "It's only preseason" mantra is preached when things are ugly. When Dez is lighting up Jamar Wall in the first week of non contact training camp practicess, he's a combination of Jerry Rice, Randy Moss and TO times a factor of 10.

I get what you saying but I think it is natural to praise good things and call out the ball things. If the team goes out and had a bad practice people over react to that just as they over react when they see poor play.

I'm ususally into Pre-season games...I like seeing all the youth on the team and seeing if we have any backups worth a squat.

But......the same problems are still here as in previous years, Pre-season or not. We are the champs at moving the ball between the 20's. Then we go back to our old ways in the red zone. Sacks, penalties, etc. It's not like it's anything new to us as fans. Yes we know the playbook is basic, but it's still football, and it's especially concerning that this is what this team needs to work on and we are not seeing any improvement.

If we don't practice these type things in game situations, how will we ever be able to over come these mistakes. It really makes me nervous quite a bit. I'll take the wait and see approach with it all though.

I don't see the point in making this thread....anybody that has even just the lil tad of sense doesn't care about the preason. Only thing the smart ones care about is injuries to starters, and the development of the younger guys. Other than that its pointless I would care less if they ran the wildcat all game.

When you get down to it the pre season is about the individual more than the team. We will never have a situation where the entire 2nd string will play together, these individuals are out there trying to make something happen to make this team this is not a cohesive unit.

I think the first unit has dominated both opponents so far.

That defense looks to have the potential to be incredibly smothering

No reason to get too upset unless you can identify guys who are clearly dogging it. The only thing that would worry me is Buehler missing a lot of kicks.

yaddda yadda happy yadda yadda birthday yadda yadda

It's very difficult to conclude that a trend observed in the preseason will carry forward to the regular season...sometime they do and sometimes they don't.

But our red zone ineffectiveness has been a problem the past couple of years now. So it will remain a concern until the Cowboys show some tangible improvement. Thus far, they haven't shown us anything to demonstrate that improvement.

I would agree with this except for the fact that the redzone offensive issues go back to last years regular season. That, is something to worry about.

I haven't even watched a single preseason game in years, for this very reason.

They're simply experimenting in the red zone. They're failing at this time, but in the regular season, I doubt they'll pass on almost every red zone play. Also when it's 4th and 1, they'll probably run it. They're just trying stuff right now.

[I'm not upset about the red zone offense, but sure wish we had scored at least 1 TD in the 2 preseason games we've played.

BUT I am concerned when our OL isn't playing as well as it should, particularly RT Colombo, etc. Romo got sacked 2-3 times last nite & even got up slowly from first sack attributed to Colombo. OL job is to open lanes & protect the QB--even in preseason. None of us would be so calm if Romo failed to get up after that first sack. I'm simply saying the OL needs to play at regular season form why Romo in particular is in there.

To say preseason has no merit is completely clueless. There is a reason why coaches need training camp and preseason games. You can evaluate players without exotic schemes. You can see what progress your team is making week to week. I agree with Wade, the Cowboys took a step back yesterday. The 1st string Offense couldn’t score inside the redzone with the Raiders playing a vanilla D. What excuse do you have for that? It was a huge issue last season and is still an issue this season so far. Preseason you can get a glimpse of the regular season. Why they play the games.

:starspin Dooms, that's what I've been thinking as well. Granted, we don't want to show anything now, although we still want to see the offense execute plays effectively that they have been working though.

Yep. We expect them to do it on the practice field as well. The end results mean nothing but anytime guys lineup be it in a pre season game or scrimmage at practice you want guys executing. Last night we did not do that very well so you bring back to the practice field and continue to work on these areas. To me it is all part of the process you go through leading up to the reg. season
