Preseason illegal contact penalties up 100% + from last preseason

This means the officials will be inserting themselves more into the games. Prepare for more games like last Thanksgiving. Anyone that doesn’t see that NFL officiating is significantly biased and affects the outcome of games as much as the play of the teams is naive.

Sure, but just because they're gonna be calling more Illegal Contact penalties doesn't mean they won't call the PI's just as often or poorly.

illegal contact and offensive holding calls are the best way to keep games close at the end.

need the team with the ball to score? Illegal contact. Automatic first down.

need the team with the ball to not score? Offensive holding. 10 yards and now it’s significantly harder for them to get a first down.

I’m not saying it’s a conspiracy.

it just so happens to be a convenient ways to keep games close down to the last minutes of a game.

This narrative is nonsense. If there is a penalty the official should call it. If they are ignoring penalties then they are deciding games in the same way except in this case they are doing it by ignoring a rule rather than following the rule.

The league has had quite the windfall from legal gambling.

I have NO reasonable clue why they would arouse any more suspicion that the fix is in with even more flags.

It also makes it a terrible product. Jeez there's enough offense already....what's the point here? More?

Sure, but just because they're gonna be calling more Illegal Contact penalties doesn't mean they won't call the PI's just as often or poorly.

At the end of the day as a player, what can you do? Nothing but adjust your game. Control what you can control, like studying various officials' calling tendencies. Some will call it tighter than others. Watch reels from officials calling your next game, what penalties were called in their last officiating game.
