Preseason week one Cowboys vs Raiders 1st half thread

It'll be interesting to see who will themselves to a win. Ugly game, but there's going to be games like this. Who was Kyle Orton throwing to? Defensive back was wide open.

Its the first preseason game so I'm not getting too high or low.

Just would like to see improvements heading into game two, especially the oline.

That looked like Niel O'Donnell to Larry Brown in the SBXXX. Yikes.

That's what came to my mind too. It looked like he saw it wasn't there, not sure what he was doing.

I've said this before and I'll say it again, the 90's OL success ruined Jerry. He saw Tuinei and newton as UDFA, he saw gogan and gesek who were scrubs yet we had the best OL in the league. Ever since then Jerry had believed you don't have to invest in the OL to be good there.

Well, that was an overall depressing half of football. Outside of Dez, Ware, Spears, Sensabaugh and Church none of the other starters impressed. Blocking and run defense were scary bad.

Hanna looks good and Albright is going to be darn near impossible to cut.

Overall, I get the impression that nothing else matters much if we don't find some solutions to the o-line problems. Between last season, camp reports and this...it's hard to be optimistic.

I like him as a coach and person. I hate him as an analyst. He loves everybody.

Gruden: this guy is growing hes doing good, i think hes finding his niche.


Me: He sucks you wont see him next pre season game.


Gruden: THis back up qb is evolving he sees the field, he knows the offensive, he clicks with the coaching staff.

Me: Hes an idiot, the only reason hes playing is because the first string qb wnated time to make out with his gf, dont get used to seeing him in the uniform.


Gruden: The coach is new, but he is changing the culture, gutting the team and installing new techniques.

Me: Why are we talking about him, he cant read a dr suess book and hte only reason he was hired is because everyone else has a job. Its not like the team tried hard.

I would have to think we'll look a lot better when we get our injured players back and after a few more weeks of preseason. Then again, maybe I'm just hoping. I sure as hell am not going to give up on the season because of one poor preseason game/half. On the bright side, it can only get better. Right?????

Difficult to evaluate the offense behind our OL.

But I do like that Orton started getting time to throw a bit in the 2nd half.

Hanna had no drops.

I think our defense has played pretty well given our STs has given the raiders' offense something like 3 first downs . . . .
