This was the first of Pearson's five Super Bowls. He played in III with the Colts, IX with the Steelers, X with the Cowboys, XII with the Cowboys, and XIII with the Cowboys. He won twice. Pearson makes a great trivia subject.

Is anyone watching the game? The graphics are primitive and the Colts do not have names on their jerseys. But it is very cool. I wish they would show more of these old games in the original form.

Another thing, there were a lot of close plays. A near punt block, end-zone interceptions, missed receivers. It is part of NFL history now, but it could have been a different game easily.

The NFLN has been showing some of the older super bowl the last couple of weeks. I really hope that they continue doing that as we get into the off season. Your right the graphics are pretty awful. But they are still great to watch.

I watched some of it and was amazed about something that I've never heard discussed.

The Colts were down 16-7 with a little over 2 minutes to go in the game and had 4th down on the Jets 25 yard line. Instead of kicking the 25 yard FG, (remember the posts were on the goal line back then), Shula went for the 1st down, even though he needed 2 scores to win. The Colts didn't get it and that was basically the game.

If the Colts had kicked the 25 yard FG they could have on side kicked it (they had just recovered one on the previous drive) and if they had gotten the ball back they would have given Unitas the ball and 2 minutes left only needing a TD to win!

I'm shocked that has never been discussed!

The announcers, Curt Gowdy and Al DeRogatis said nothing about it! That decision would be debated and dissected endlessly in today's media/internet world.

I was laughing at how goofy the officials looked making their calls, first to one side of the field, and then to the other side of the field. All their hand signals were overly exaggerated.
