Pretty wins vs Ugly Wins

I felt the need to define the difference between ugly wins and pretty wins because lots of posters on this board don't seem to understand the difference.

Ok our team only has one pretty win this season which was the opening game of the season against the Giants. That was a impressive win because it was on the road against the defending SB champs. The Cowboys jumped on the Giants early and held them off with Romo throwing for over 300 yds and 3 TD passes.

The ugly win would be against the Bucs which we only generated 16pts at home and at the time we all accepted it because it was early in the season and you have those game from time to time.

But the problem with ugly wins is you don't get the feeling that the team can compete with the better teams in the league so that's why pretty wins matter more than ugly wins. So stop looking at what the standings say and go by what your eyes tell you because if not then the losses will be harder to accept in the long run.

Yes we are 6-6 but it's a shaky 6-6. On the flipside if the skins win tonight they will be a strong 6-6 because of...............how they are winning.

Hope I made myself clear

Can you name me a Super Bowl Champion that did not have any ugly wins?

Can you ask ESPN to change their standings to reflect pretty wins and ugly wins?

I didn't think yesterday was an ugly win.
Was it a close game? Yes.

An ugly win to me is a mistake-filled game where we clearly played poorly, make silly mistakes, were lethargic, etc. Also, typically the other team could have won it but they made mistakes as well.

Close game against a bad team doesn't always equal ugly win.

That's for the fans not ESPN. Of course ESPN is going to focus on the standings but as a fan we have to go by what we are seeing on the field which is slow starts almost and poor defense.

Are you telling me right now this team is playoff material?

I'll take an ugly win vs. a pretty loss any day.

Pretty lose ... play an amazing game, put up some fantastic stats, and lose in dramatic fashion last moment.

F that !!

I'll take the ugly win any day.

This fan is also going to focus on the standings.

I really didn't expect an answer to the first question. It would show research and intelligence to the premise. Minus that it is just the hollow, whining drone we all laugh at.

Alanta has about 5 convincing wins this season and we have 1 which was in the summer time

All wins are pretty to me. So that makes 6 pretty wins by my standards. Works for me.

Yes, they say "a win is a win". Ugly or Pretty might both count as wins; however, if you were a gambler, Ugly vs Pretty would be a significant issue.

In other words, Ugly Wins vs Pretty Wins is a probability indicator of future wins.

I would too but after a while too many ugly wins start to make the team look seriously flawed

Last year, the Cowboys scored just 14 points in two games against the Eagles.

This year, the Cowboys scored 76 points in two games against the Eagles.

Massive difference.

Thank You

Prime example, the eagles squeaked out a 1pt win against the ravens and then the next week they were blown out by the Cards.

That was the Ugly Win indicating that the next game maybe a issue

Try again they have 3 wins by 10 points or more and 1 of those was NO where Brees gave away points before the half and threw 5 picks. That should have been an Atlanta blow out.
