What is up with this lately? It seems like literally every bit of news that comes through is soon after refuted.

- Free is being restructure... wait, no he's not.
- Durant has a deal... actually not quite yet.
- Romo and Spencer are "hours" from signing... crickets... not close.
- Brandon Moore has an offer from us... ok, no he doesn't.

I know Twitter has changed the game, and guys feel additional pressure to be the first to report, but the level of inaccuracy is appalling and tiring. Ah well, with that said, I'll continue waiting on the edge of my seat and read everything reported.

True, because when one thing is reported half the fans get pissed... then it's refuted and the half that liked the original story is pissed. They figured out a way to upset the whole lot of us! Good for them haha.

This is twitterworld. Everyone wants to be first so that they get the oh so great retweets.
Reporters not only reports falsehoods but dont even check on sources anymore. Two years Go espn and nfl.com both reported the cowboys signed a wr as an udfa from wyoming. Only he didnt exist and his name was actual a dirty name joke. Seriously.

It's Jerry Jones and his policy if "any publicity is good publicity"

Can he play RT?

Sadly, this is what journalism has become. There is no integrity.

It's the media wanting to be the first to report everything so they lazily put out whatever without doing some real research. Happens a lot these days.

Yes, and they seemingly never ask the question of 'does reporting it first actually matter?'

I tend to think not. I tend to think that people have their biases towards certain media channels for whatever reason. If a story happens, certain people will tune into CNN or FOX News or MSNBC because that is their preference for whatever reason. Not because one of them breaks the news a couple of minutes before the other.

And if it's proven that one of the channels gets the entire story wrong, I would tend to think that it will turn people off to that channel.

I could be wrong, but I don't think the news industry is doing all that well in general.

I agree. To much personal views added to the story. In my view a good journalist gives you the facts from all sides and allows the reader or viewer to make up their own mind. Instead of trying to become part of the story itself or throwing their own opinion into the mix.

Yeah, it would be nice if threads like these were closed when the story doesn't sound legit. It would definitely make this forum more reliable if we could actually have accurate information that is fact checked after about 15 minutes.
