I think we’re seeing that at the end of the game Mike doesn’t trust Quinn’s defense . Hence the killshot attempts

It’s such a CYA move, IMO.

It’s the fear of getting beat deep quickly, that causes DCs to use it.

They’d rather get roasted for losing by playing “safe”
Auburn did the same vs Alabama this year. Alabama had a 4th and goal from their 35 and Auburn had been wrecking them all game and went prevent for the win.

What happened? Easy TD.

What does this defense actually do? I'd argue that we should ride what got us through the game and if we lose to a big play, at least there is more time for offense to work. Unless, of course, the prevent defense was designed to prevent my high blood pressure med from working. Then I understand it completely. Maybe I am wrong but to me it feels like offenses just scream down the field with ease. I know today's football is all about analytics. Do the numbers show that the prevent defense actually works more times than not?

Giving chunks of yards it does not work for dallas, right down the field and into the endzone

It’s not meant for when there is still 1:45 left on the clock. It’s really only effective with 30 seconds or less, no timeouts, and a long field. Other than that, you should be playing a normal defense. Bringing pressure and forcing short quick passes would have been much more effective.

It doesn't work and Quinn was known for blowing leads before Atlanta fired him. He needs to figure it out. You do not let the team run down the field if you're trying to prevent them from scoring. That is football 101.

As they have been saying for the last 30 or so years the only thing the prevent D prevents is nothing

Yes, it prevents wins more often than not by the team that uses it.
It makes 0 sense. Like I said in the chat, we might as well not even be out there. Just let them score. We do it anyway. We'll have more time on the clock when we get the ball back.
