I don't know how to begin what I want to say, so forgive me if I stumble. I've never been more proud to call myself a Dallas Cowboys fan in my entire life and I have my fellow Dallas Cowboys fans to thank for that.

I've called Miami, FL my home most of my life. I've been to Cowboys' games before ( Orange Bowl in '84, Commotion by the Ocean in '96 ) so this is not the first time I've gone to see the Dullphins. However, today was completely different than any other times I've been and this is why:

Joe Robby Stadium ( to me, it will always be called that because the ol' man deserves it ) was at least 40% ( and I'm being conservative ) fill with Cowboys' faithfull. And what a magnificent experience it was. The sea of navy blue, silver, and white jerseys, with navy blue stars, and names like Tony Romo, Terrell Owens, Marion Barber, Julius Jones, DeMarcus Ware, Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith, Michael Irvin, Roger Staubach, Randy White, Ed " too tall " Jones, Charles Haley, Deion Sanders... was a sight to be hold. It was like JRS was invaded by Dallas, Tx. Not one Cowboys fan passed by without acknowledging another Cowboys fan from a simple " hello ", to " how 'bout them Cowboys ", to straight out discussions about the team. The invitations to bbQ's, beers, soft drinks, water, or just simply to toss a football around were endless.

All of that by itself can make anybody proud. However, the proudest moments came inside the stadium. During the middle of the game, you could hear the legions of Cowboys' faithful chanting " Let's go Cowboys... Let's go Cowboys ". It sort of irritated the Dullfans ( who are very nice people for the most part ), but as hard as they tried, they couldn't drown the those beautiful chants. And then, the most incredible part of the day happened. After Henry's 2nd interception, the Dullfans started leaving in droves. You could see lines and lines of Dullphins fans heading to the nearest exits. I thought the stadium was going to be empty with still half a quarter to go in the game. But then, I raised my head and I looked up into the stands and what I saw nearly left me completely stunned. I swear that I'm not exaggerating, there must have been between 30,000 to 40,000 fans in the stadium, all wearing Cowboys gear, and all cheering for our beloved team.

I went to the game with a childhood friend of mine who's been a season ticket holder since the Dullphins were playing in the Orange Bowl, when his parents used to take him. He told me, flat out, that in all the years he's been to the games, he's never seen anything like it.

I want to thank those of you, who participate in this forum, who attended the game, and made it such a great experience for me. Y'all have a special place in my heart and I'll never forget this day.

" How 'bout them Cowboys ! ( fans ) "

Oh, yea, I forgot, the game was nice too. Although I wasn't too happy that we didn't established a ground game, or T.O. dropping 2 passes, or the defense allowing that silly drive in the 3rd quarter, right after half time. But, I'll take it.

Too bad you allow such a great experience to be tainted by your focus on the few negatives that took place in a solid win on the road.

I look back on this win remembering Tony Romo juking Jason Taylor literally to the ground, throwing the touchdown on 4th down to TO after a GENIUS fake-curl move by TO on the cornerback, and Marion Barber busting through the line for a 40 yard romp to the endzone.

Twice...

and I didn't let it affect my experience much at all. I was a little uncomfortable with the Cowboys allowing the Dullpins to hang around, but, like I said, the game itself was nice.

Great post,

I had nearly the same thing happen in against Tennessee last year in Nashville. Vince Young's first pro start and we blew them out, the Titans fans were all gone by the 4th quarter and about 20,000 Cowboys fans were living it up, chanting, having a great time with TO pumping up the crowd. Jerry Jones signing hats and Jerseys and throwing down from the press box. It never ceases to amaze me how many Cowboys fans there are all over the country.

It's really the beautiful thing about being a Cowboys fan. Everywhere you go there are Cowboy fans. Now it's kind of like the Yankees being you're either loved or hated. Cowboy fans are passionate there is no doubt about it.

I was lucky to see a Dallas/Miami game at Joe Robbie a decade ago. I remember the Miami fans being very friendly and some Dallas fan representation but nothing near what you described.

Good post. Virtually the same thing happened in SF last year or the year before. My daughter and some of my friends were there and had the same feeling you described.

Even on TV you could hear the Cowboys fans yelling D-fence, D-fence, D-fence when the Whiners had the ball. After the game the SF QB said it was demoralizing to have so many Cowboys fans making so much noise in his stadium.

Tonight, we could hear the crowd yelling "Let's go Cowboys, lets go". Priceless.

The same thing happened in Charlotte last year. Amazing experience. We were chanting "Romo" and "TO" and the Panther fans had vacated the premises. We owned the stadium!

Can anyone doubt that the Cowboys are America's Team?

Very Nice Randy,

I have so much respect for Zach Thomas and Jason Taylor. Those guys are just flat out warriors and I appreciated that our boys went head to head with a tough, smart defense and had them shaking thier heads. It wasn't easy and it never should be in the NFL.

I thought the stunt by Taylor was uncalled for when he ripped the fans sign down in the endzone before the game. I have been to many Cowboy games at Texas Stadium where the opposing team fans had banners and Cowboy players did not do what Taylor did. The fans have a right to bring those banners and they are looked at to make sure there is nothing offensive on them before they bring them into the stadium so if the people operating the stadium had no problem with it Taylor should not have had a problem with it.

You know how I feel about Jason Taylor. To this day I keep saying he should have been a Cowboy ( Darn you, Dave Campo ).

Still, it was sweet watching Romo break JT's ankles with those moves. Honestly, I knew TR was nimble, but I never knew he was this athletic. You don't get away from JT often.

Dooms:

JT was frustrated with the legions of Cowboys' fans in the stands. He's a class act and a great community guy. He, and Zach, are the only players who have been able to achieve legendary status in this town ( on a par with Dan Marino and Don Shula ) because of their work on and off the field.

He may be a great guy but that was a classless act no matter how you spin it. Those fans paid money to go to that game and evidently the stadium operators had no issue with the banner they had brought to the game. I don't care what excuses or the fact that he could not control his frustration over Miami fans who are not filling up their own stadium. I don't make excuses for our players when I feel like they have done something wrong I sure as hell will not make an excuse for Taylor and his action to paying customers.

My wife and I attended. She is a Yankee fan and if you have ever attended a Yankee game at a stadium other thank Yankee stadium you know their fans are every where. It did not compare. Even my wife was flabbergasted at how many Cowboys fans where there. She said, "you would think this was the Super Bowl considering how evenly mixed the fan base was."
