This article expresses my reservation almost exactly about Prince.

If you were to poll all of the NFL draft experts about whom they believe the Dallas Cowboys will select with their first-round pick, the overwhelming favorite would be Nebraska cornerback Prince Amukamara.

The shutdown corner is an elite talent, plays a position the Cowboys desperately need and is projected to still be on the board when they pick at No. 9.

There is a lot for the Cowboys to like about Amukamara. The 6-foot, 205-pounder earned first team All-America and Big 12 defensive player of the year honors as a senior in 2010.

funny how wes bunting which sounds like a made up name to me is all of a sudden this uber scout cant read anything nfl drfat related without his name attached.

i dont hate Prince like most people here who just think his only college game was vs okie st. but as ive said before i dont really want him because im still holding out hope for PP and if not i would rather we trade down or go a different position like (ol or dl)

I don't hate him, I just don't think he will be a CB in this league. (#9 is a little high for him too IMO) I would take him and convert him to safety. As for Peterson, I would be open to doing that with him too.

“If I am using a top-10 pick on a prospect, especially at the cornerback position, he better have some elite athletic qualities to his game and have the kind of ability to mature into a potential shutdown guy on the outside in the NFL," National Football Post writer Wes Bunting recently wrote. “And, in all honesty I can't say I see any real exceptionally dynamic qualities to Amukamara's game.

"He can be technically sound, but he isn't overly physical off the line of scrimmage when asked to re-route in press. And the biggest concern is that he really has only average straight-line speed. He struggles to make up for a false step and too often will allow receivers to get behind him vertically down the field, failing to quickly get back up to speed and close out of his transition."

I am curious as to what Amukamara runs in the 40.

Seems like most of the questions regarding him is whether he has top notch speed.

Not what I want on our speed track that is Cowboys Stadium.

Let him go play up North somewhere.

He can play safety IMO. Man against TEs and RBs, but keep him in zone most of the time.

The guy can play man on man and has done so through out his time at Neb. This notion that he has no recovery speed is non sense.

Tape doesn't lie. If a player gets behind him, it's over.

I have seen him play ample times and yes he does have closing speed, if anything he gambles at times and that has hurt him and no amount of closing speed can rescue from that. However as I said he would not be raked at the 2nd best CB in the nation if scouts did not think he had no closing speed. If I had the choice of Peterson or Price I take Peterson but sorry Price is no slouch and does have very good speed.

And you got tape? Can you show us clips of this other than the Justin Blackmon clips?

Hey, I said I would take Prince and convert him to safety. Mark my words, you will NEVER hear the term "Amukamara Island". Fast WRs are going to be the bane of his existence.

That is your opinion, the guy has played CB vs some very good talent and has put himself in a position to go high in the draft that does not happen without showing great ability and he has done that.

I didn't say he sucks. :bang2: I just said he lacks top closing speed and that IMO is a key thing for CBs. (actually, that isn't even an opinion it's a fact) Remember, he will be playing in the NFL now, not college. Most WRs drafted get red-shirted when they come into the league. Sometimes for years before they become starters. So I don't care how good you think they are, they general suck compared to seasoned NFL veteran WRs. He won't be in the college ranks anymore.

He does not lack closing speed that is your view many others disagree with that view. As for not being in the college ranks anymore well duh none of these guys trying for the Pros will be facing college level talent but you can only go by how productive they were

From nfl sight. Amukamara is an exceptional blend of height, strength and speed. Very sound positioning and instincts in zone coverage and diagnoses quickly. Can play on an island in man. Uses size to press and re-route at the line, can turn and run and recover, and tracks the ball well. Willing and productive in run support.

So while you may have a certain view not everyone agrees with it.

I think he is a better CB than Peterson (skill wise), but Peterson's athletic ability makes him the better player.

btw, if you or anyone else disagrees with me, then you and they are wrong. ;)

As I said if I had the pick between them then I go with Peterson but I think highly of Price and his ability to play CB at the next level.
