Prisco rated him as the top OLB, tho. We'll see how he's rated after he plays a season as a DL.

Yeah, it's hard to say if this is a list of best current 100 players, or best from last season. If it's best from last season, Ware's way too high given his various injury issues. If it's next season, then he should be projected as a DE.

But then, there's probably not all that much thought that goes into it, anyway. It's mostly just a list of the top 3-4 players on each team.

Strange that Rodgers is #1, and he's not even the best QB in the league. .

Yes he is.

4 players in the top100: that's about average for an average team. Hopefully we will change that with def players breaking top 100. Lee, Carter Carr, ratliff or Claiborn

From the article:
Ah.

So it's both last year and expectations for this year.
I'd still say that Sean Lee missing most of the season would weigh him down.
I bet (hope) he's on that list next year.

Who is then?

The guy with four MVPs coming off arguably his best season (yes, even better than 2004) with 15 years on the job and widely considered to be the best football mind in a QB head ever?

I was just asking your opinion.

I'd still take Rodgers right now.

Pretty solid list but I don't agree with AJ Green, Julio Jones, Demaryius Thomas, Brandon Marshall, and Andre Johson all over Dez. I can see the case for Green but nobody else.

I think Rogers is fantastic. I hate to have to sound like I'm dumping on him on him to make a point. I think he's the best physical talent at the QB position we have in the league right now, and that includes all of these running around, new generation QBs we have. But until Manning starts to show some kind of decline, there is no way he's better than a Top 10, HOF bound QB who is still at the top of his game. No one else thought so either, that's why the MVP voting went Peterson 30.5, Manning 19.5, Rodgers 0.

This list, as all lists that are about anything but Super Bowl winners, is pointless. It is an opinion.

You can poll every fan of the NFL for their top 100 and have about every combination there is virtually.

It's nice for a discussion, I suppose. But as relevant as serving steaks at a PETA meeting.

I'm guessing Peyton's 2012 (and perennial) underachievement in the post season impacted his rating.

One would think it would be countered by Brady and Rodgers doing the same thing in 2012, and that excludes Rodgers flushing a rare 15-1 season down the toilet with his worst game of the year in 2011.

Rodgers had a 97.6 rating in two games, Brady 84.7 in two and Peyton 88.3 in his. So if you were to call all 3 of them close in the regular season (which I think you could certainly make the argument for) I'd give Rodgers postseason as the tiebreaker.

But I really have no dog in this fight, personally I like to look at player rankings in tiers versus numbering them individually. I just don't think there is much of a difference between number one and number three in that group (regardless of who I'd think is #1) where you can make an argument in all directions.

Rodgers did outperform Manning on the field -- Rodgers threw for 2 more TDs and 3 less interceptions and had a higher QB rating. Rodgers also had 20 1st downs rushing the ball and 2 rushing TDs. Manning had only 6 yards rushing all season.

If look at their last two seasons (skipping the season where Manning sat out) that disparity becomes ever larger:

Rodgers: 84 TDs, 14 Interceptions while being sacked 89 times
Manning: 70 TDs, 29 Interceptions while being sacked 37 times

In a nutshell, Rodgers has thrown more TDs than Manning while throwing less than half the interceptions -- all while being under major duress -- he is the most sacked QB in the NFL over the past 4 seasons.

All that with the worst oline in football.

Prisco got it right--Aaron Rodgers is the best player in the NFL and AP is a very close second.

LOL, no they are not. People just say anything on here. They are probably bottom half and maybe bottom third, but they are nowhere close to being worst. Almost universally, the Cardinals are considered to have the worst line in the game.

I'll say this -- the Packers OL "sacks allowed" stats is somewhat artificially pumped up due to Rodgers highly unique approach to eating dirt and essentially falling down and taking sacks instead of throwing low probability passes when under pressure.

I'm not saying it's a bad thing. I'm not even sure I am saying it's a good thing.... it does, however, make the Packer's OL look a tad worse than they really are.

you know what's awful. I think tony romo won't even be on the nfl network top 100. 14 qbs made the list. 4 rookies made it. which is kapernick (confirmed) wilson rg3 and luck. so the ten would be stafford (already) confirmed. matt ryan flacco rodgers peyton eli brees big ben brady and cam newton.

Unbelievable the hate for tony.

There are not 14 QBs better than Tony Romo in the NFL.
