Pro bowl rosters are announced

We need an entirely new defensive mentality... and safeties.

Mentality.. yes. Coaching.. yes. Overhaul of players.. not so much.

Give me a playmaking safety and a solid NT and i think this D would be substantially better. We need to upgrade sure, but every team does that every offseason.

It accounts for less that 1% of his snaps. He does not miss blocks and gets push for the other 99%. He deserves to go.

Who better deserves it than he?

I would certainly hope so! I didn't say he doesn't deserve to go, for the love of zeus, if you want to argue with someone, feel free to look elsewhere.

..and yet people think we have no talent on this team.

Im suprised Buehler didn't make it.. as the Special Teamer.

Pro Bowl votes are not based on talent.

Maybe not specifically but you certainly implied it with your comment.

The only thing I implied is that I'm looking forward to him snapping the ball to a QB in the middle of a play adjustment in the Pro Bowl.

I'm not sure how you got from my saying "Yeah, I know he is." to "I think he shouldn't be in the Pro Bowl".

They are when the players and coaches put them there. And generally you don't end up with alot of crappy players from the fan vote, so i'd say it is based on performance.

Not when playoff teams have no pro-bowlers and the crappy Cowboys have multiple pro-bowlers

Our defense minus one player was also 2nd best in the league last year. We have the talent to succeed. We need a few upgrades, not a massive overhaul.

Need a better Defensive End, Better Inside Linebacker, better Safety's (both) and at least one more corner. Ya'll don't seem to understand, if you aren't going forward your going in reverse. Status Quo means your slipping back in this leaque.

I believe it was this:

Yeah, I know he is.

So good, he decides when to snap the ball all on his own.

What playoff teams have no pro-bowlers?

Who does gurode keep sleeping with to get on the team?

It's not him, per se. It's a reflection on his competition. He's just the best of a bad bunch.

A few things to note --

-- Andre Gurode didn't even finish among the top five NFC centers in the fan voting, and Jay Ratliff wasn't among the top five NFC defensive tackles. The players and coaches must have voted for them both overwhelmingly, because they're both starters.

-- Witten was fourth in the fan voting for NFC tight ends. Again, the players and coaches were the ones who made him a Pro Bowl starter.

-- McBriar was only third in the fan voting, so it was the players and coaches who put him in the game. He absolutely deserved it.

-- Several players won the fan voting at their position but didn't make the Pro Bowl: Bengals OT Andrew Whitworth, Browns OG Eric Steinbach, Packers OG Josh Sitton, Colts C Jeff Saturday, Commanders SS LaRon Landry and most of the special teamers (Akers and Hester are the only two who made it).

-- Along with Gurode and Ratliff, the players who weren't among the top five in the fan voting but will start in the Pro Bowl are Browns OT Joe Thomas, Panthers OT Jordan Gross, Chargers OG Kris Dielman, Patriots OG Logan Mankins, Falcons DE John Abraham, Titans KR Marc Mariani and Falcons special teamer Eric Weems.

-- Because of the way the NFL tabulates the voting, the fans' vote doesn't really count for one-third of the voting. It's actually just one of the three sources of votes.
