BOISE — Though they are still a year away from 30-plus sets of eyes analyzing their 40-yard dash time to fractions of a second, the Boise State Broncos took part in their own pro day on Friday.

The Bronco seniors did agility drills, vertical jumps, broad jumps, bench press and the 40-yard dash. A handful of NFL scouts took in the last event.

“It’s a good measuring stick to see where you’re at heading into offseason workouts,” tight end Tommy Gallarda said.

The rest of the team did the same drills, though rules prohibited scouts from watching. Of the seniors that took part, a few posted some impressive numbers.

Receiver Titus Young ran the 40 in 4.4 seconds, receiver Austin Pettis ran it in the high 4.4s and safety Jeron Johnson impressed with a time similar to Pettis’.

“I’m definitely pleased with that,” Johnson said. “It’s what, a year early, we have a whole season ahead of us, so I’m not looking too much into it.”

With a strong senior class, the Broncos could see as many as a half-dozen players drafted in 2011. Of course, they aren’t looking that far ahead, even despite going through the same drills recent picks like Ryan Clady and Kyle Wilson went through.
