Blows it up on pro-day!
There’s no rest for the weary. We just returned from the NFL combine and already pro-day workouts have begun around the country. As has been the case the past half-dozen years, TFYDraftInsider.net promises to bring you the most intense coverage of pro-day workouts of anyone on the net or in the media. Today we will be live from Missouri and Baylor pro-days, but we start off with the events from yesterday in Manhattan, Kansas! Updates from Missouri, Wyoming, Baylor & Buffalo!
Update 8:30PM EST
Missouri
Reports have been dribbling in and we’ve heard there were a number of terrific performances at the Missouri pro-day, none better than linebacker Sean Weatherspoon who improved many of his marks from the combine.
Thirteen teams were on hand to watch the action.
Weatherspoon was one rep better on the bench, completing a total of 35. His forty was much faster as he ran his first in a time of 4.53-seconds and was faster on the second, running 4.49 seconds. Sources have said Weatherspoon looked terrific in drills.
Kurtis Gregory was another who improved his marks from Indianapolis.
Gregory posted a 31.5-inch vertical jump, 8’2’’ broad and ran the forty in 5.14 seconds, with a 10 yard split of 1.80 sec. His 20 yard shuttle of 4.58 seconds and 3-cone of 7.53 were also impressive.
Defensive tackle Jaron Baston was another who performed well.
Baston measured 6004/304lbs, had a 10.5 inch hand and completed 26 reps on the bench. His forty time was 5.24 seconds with a 10 yard slit of 1.78. He posted a 32-inch vertical jump and 8’6’’ broad jump. Several people commented on how well Baston moved in drills, even looking effective in linebacker specific drills.
Finally Brian Coulter measured 6031/251lbs, had an arm length of 33 ¼ inches, completed 16 reps on the bench. He posted a vertical jump of 29-inches and a broad of 9’3’’.
Coulter’s forty time was 4.83 seconds with a 10 yard split of 1.69 seconds and he posted a three cone time of 7.31 seconds. Coulter participated in defensive line and linebacker drills.
Jared Perry, who participated in the combine, will workout during Mizzou’s second pro-day on March 18th.
Wyoming
Nearly a dozen teams including the Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots, Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, San Francisco 49ers and Jacksonville Jaguars were on hand at Wyoming’s pro-day.
Defensive end John Fletcher, who was suffering with a hamstring injury, posted a forty time of 4.87 seconds and a short shuttle of 4.52 seconds. Fletcher hit the tape at 33-inches in the vertical jump and 9’10’’ in the broad. He completed 22 reps on the bench.
Fletcher measured 6052/270lbs, surprisingly bigger than many expected. The New York Giants ran the workout and afterwards the Indianapolis Colts spent a significant amount of time with Fletcher, who may work out again during the team’s second pro-day on March 25th.
Mitch Unrein, the Cowboys other defensive end, also looked good. He measured 6036/276, posted a forty time of 4.84 seconds, and shuttle run of 4.6 seconds. His vertical jump was 31 inches and broad 8’10’’. Unrein completed 26 reps on the bench. Afterwards the Tennessee Titans spent a significant amount of time with Unrein.
Baylor
More on the Bears.
Receiver Robert Gettis was very impressive for scouts today. The wide out improved his forty time from the combine and was officially clocked at 4.38 seconds. He caught all but two passes during drills, and we are told those throws were wild.
Defensive tackle Trey Bryant impressed scouts by posting a forty time of 4.86-seconds and then a vertical jump of 31-inches. He completed just 20-reps on the bench but had been struggling with an injured pectoral muscle for more than a week.
Safety Jordan Lake was very disappointing and posted a forty time of 4.8-seconds.
All-purposed player Jeremy Sanders, who played quarterback, safety and linebacker during his four years at Baylor, timed the forty in 4.36 seconds.
Defensive end Jason Lamb is still recovering from labrum surgery and is expected to workout for scouts on March 29th.
Buffalo
The Buffalo Bulls had their workout yesterday in the Buffalo Bills indoor facility. Here are the results.
Tight end Jesse Rack weighed in at 238-pounds, ran his forty’s in times which ranged between 4.81-to-4.85 seconds, posted a 35-inch vertical jump and 10’1’’ broad jump. He did some long snapping after drills and the New Orleans Saints and Kansas City Chiefs showed a lot of interest.
Safety Mike Newton looked good, running his forty in the low 4.5’s, posting a short shuttle time of 4.01 seconds and 40-inch vertical jump.
Receiver Naaman Roosevelt ran in the 4.6’s but did catch the ball well and ran better than expected routes.
