Call me old fashioned, but I still buy a couple of the draft magazines.

The PFW (not PFT) guide is done by former Bears Director of College Scouting Greg Gabriel.

He usually has slightly different takes than you see, so it is interesting to see the odd ones. Believe it or not, the past few years he actually has been surprisingly accurate with some of them.

These are exceptions out of "mainstream" or "consensus" views:

QB - Little odd and very different. Mayfield ahead of Darnold and Rosen. Rudolph ahead of Lamar Jackson. Then Kyle Lauletta ahead of Josh Allen. Mike While is his 12th ranked QB.

RB - Sony Michel number two behind Barkley. Royce Freeman was third, Rashaad Penny fourth, Ron Jones fifth. Had Guice all the way down at six.

WR - There really is no standout "tier". All of them seem close together, even the top 3 in Ridley, Sutton and Washington. Notable low rankings: D.J. Moore (13th), D.J. Chark (16th), Auden Tate (21st), DaeSean Hamilton (23). Seems unusually high on Penn's Justin Watson (13th) and Cedrick Wilson (8th).

TE - Nondescript.

OT - McGlinchey, Brown, Wiliams, Crosby, O'Neil top 5. Has Mason Cole (Michigan C) listed as a tackle prospect. He is the first draft guy I have seen do that. It does make a little sense since he started several years at tackle at Michigan.

OG - Nelson, Hernandez, Wynn, Smith and Will Clapp (LSU C) as top 5.

C - Billy Price, Daniels and Ragnow are the standard. Has Iowa OG Sean Welsh as the fourth best center.

DT - Taven Bryan was top ranked DT. Followed by Payne, Vea, Andrew Brown and Maurice Hurst. The rest falls in line. Seems to like Du'Vonta Lampkin of Oklahoma and Mike Ramsay of Duke more than anyone else I have seen.

DE - Chubb, Landry, Key ahead of Davenport.

LB - Has them all lumped together. Roquan Smith, Evans, Edmunds, Darius Leonard, Vander Esch top five. Has Christian Sam and Dorian O'Daniel ranked ahead of Malik Jefferson. Has Josey Jewell and Uchenna Nwosu 11th and 12th. Has Shaquem Griffin and Kemoko Turay as unranked.

CB - Jackson, Ward, Alexander, Oliver, Hughes. Has Carlton Davis at ten.

S - Fitzpatrick, James, Watts, Allen, Elliott. Reid, Harrison and Kyzer White next.

If anyone wants his notes on a particular player, let me know.

Mason Cole,C-Michigan is catching my eye....he must be incredibly versatile....NFLDRAFTSCOUT says he could move to OG....I believe he played some there too....now this nugget about OT.
Could be a steal.

I looked for draft mags today in fact. Still nothing. Where does he have Jordan Lasley?

Ordered it this one off Amazon last night. Here today.

I haven't seen the Lindy's one yet. Those are the only two paper ones I buy. I will order Brugler and Nawrocki when they are available online, usually the first week of April.

About Lasley, he doesn't have him ranked in his top 30. Not even in the "Best Of The Rest" section.

I like PFW. I do think Lindy's is a bit more accurate. I always get both.

Sometimes I get Sporting News, but that's more for entertainment, as they have some screwball ideas about prospects.

I call Lindy's every year and have them mail several copies to me.

Where does he have Michael Gallup and Equinemious St. Brown?

I have Mayfield ahead of all the QB's. He's a winner with a strong arm, and is a leader. He just happens to only be 6'. If he were 6'4" we would all be frothing at the mouth.

Washington goes in the first as well IMO. Im thinking if Vea, Derwin, and RoSmith are gone he's my guy.

And Michel is a special back.

I have Michel ranked as the 2nd best RB as well, dude is nice. I would rank Wynn ahead of Hernandez as a OG prospect.

This guy is clearly trying to stand out.

I guess he deserves credit for not mimicking the herd.
Then again, it doesn't mean it's accurate.

Back when there were regular draft guides out every year..Street & Smith, SportingNews, PFW, Athlons, etc. it seemed the SportingNews guy would always go against the grain just for the sake of being different. He was wrong, a lot. Which may explain why there isn't a SportingNews draft guide anymore, and if there is, I haven't seen one in years.
