According to ESPN's QB rating system, Aaron Rodgers had a better QBR this week (14-22 77 yds 0 TDs) Than Tom Brady (26-38 356 yds 4 TDs).

IMHO, that sounds as screwed up as PFF's ratings.

Doesn't make sense. What is that 3.5 yards per attempt 63% completion.

Their system incorporates subjectivity. How was the pass protection, was it a clutch play, was it a good throw, and a number of different variables.

The more subjectivity that is in play, the less reliable the scoring system. That's why PFF sucks. They have average Joe's rating on a subjective basis. How else could they possibly have a grade for every single player in 3 or 4 days? Anyone here care to rate a Jaguars game? Probably not, and the same goes for just about any other team that a fan doesn't follow. The consequence of this would seem to be that they have fans rating the games of their favorite team.

Yes, QBR factors in other things. But as an indicator of actual performance, I think QBR is much more accurate. For me at least.

Tom Brady had a QBR of 60.7 (RAT of 133.2) - Rodgers QBR of 64.6 (RAT of 69.7)
Both QBs had a dink and dunk kind of day. Brady just had a lot of his dinks go for bigger gains. Neither of those QBRs were top 10 for the week.

Lets also look at a couple other examples.

Peyton Manning - Had a QBR of 93.6 (RAT of 96.9) He was the 4th rated QBR for the week. 13th in RAT. Manning was 21/29 for 340 yards, but no TDs.
RAT (passer rating) over values TDs.

Jameis Winston helped his team beat the undefeated Falcons. QBR he was ranked 5th, RAT he was17th. His QBR was better than Ryans. Ryan had a better RAT. Tampa won. I know a lot of folks look at RAT as a determinant in deciding who wins. This was not the case here.

Weird, that something developed by ESPN would not be more reliable.

Maybe they laid off their stats team and so they're just winning it for ratings at this point.
