Mike isn’t a bad coach at all certainly better than what Garrett was. McCarthy would do better coaching a different team that has different dynamics. His type of personality won’t stand up to Jerry and the culture Jerry creates. WE all know that Jerry’s culture is what has ruined this franchise. Until there is a head coach who has the balls to tell Jerry the culture needs to change and we are going to do it my way then this will continue. And Jerry’s ego will never allow it. So suck it up Cowboys fans, we will continue to root for one of the worst franchises in professional sports. A punch line for everyone.

In all fairness the culture Jerry created predates McCarthy and Garrett so I'm not sure what you mean by "stand up to Jerry." The guy specifically hired Garrett and McCarthy to ensure the person who serves as HC does not "stand up" to him. The players in the regular season have more than just football on their minds and it shows for this org. Just listen to Jesse Holley talk about his experience with the Cowboys and the Patriots. Listen to how the orgs are run with Jerry's meddling compared to Krafts hands off give Bill the reign and just take care of it approach. That in the crux of it is the Cowboy culture you are dealing with. Where what is important isn't really football but really anything and everything around the brand that is the Dallas Cowboys.

Problem with MM is that all the players like him. Notice how they’re all standing up for him? It’s time to make the boys uncomfortable. The buddy system doesn’t work. Time for a hard assed, no nonsense head coach that purges the roster of the softness and brings in more hard nosed scrappers.

You don't need to fire McCarthy for that. It just requires Jerry to be on the same page with Mike. So if Mike say no, Jerry backs it up. The option to go over the coaches head gets removed.

You think Jerry is going to relent after 3 decades? Mike doesn’t have the personality this team needs.

There is a lot of truth to that but Mike is a “players coach”. We need a coach who strikes fear in the players.

Exactly what they need and Jerry’s ego won’t let that happen. Feeding his ego is more important than actually doing what needs to get done to move forward.

Everyone keeps claiming that Dak is a great leader. Where was that leadership on Sunday? Do you really need the coaches to kick your rears to get fired up about a home playoff game?
At least the owner had the balls to step in and instill a sense of urgency into the team, expressing how important winning is.....

Oh wait, he didn't give this speech until AFTER they had already gotten their arses kicked and the season was over. Great leadership there.

It’s not about leadership for the 400-500 level posters on here. It’s about a much clearer and precise reason.

I appreciate that he’s never in the news and never in trouble. I’m a Dak supporter because of that. He’s a terrible qb with a low iq, and that’s why I want him gone.

I'm saying that nothing is going to change till Jerry relents. You can go find the most hardnosed SOB out there and that person will walk out rather than dealing with Jones. You saw this with Parcells. You will see the same with Bill Belichick.

Being one of the most penalized teams every year is a major issue of his that won't change on a different team. His clock management skills are not ideal, but all these coaches make poor decisions at the end of half/game. He seems bad at it, but they all seem bad to me.

I don't even think you need a tyrant as coach. You just need a coach who will refocus the players on football rather than all the hoopla that is the Cowboys brand. But the only way you are going to get there is if the GM is backing up the coach. With the Cowboys the HC really is just a guy who holds the clipboard and manages the time outs. Bill Belicheck will come in and will likely deal with this as long as Parcells did, if at that. Heck I would bet that he will retire after 1 year of putting up with Jones.

The problem with McCarthy is he is a passive, go along to get along guy, with no authority who couldn't do situational football if his life depended on it. He is another in a long line of Jerry's yes men. McCarthy is just a symptom of deeper organizational rot.

Remember what Jerry said, his concern when searching for a HC is finding someone who can get along with him. Not how they run the team, not football knowledge.....nope who can get along with Jerry. So you can hardly blame Mike McCarthy for what he is. He is a decent coach, a decent offensive coordinator. Certainly got more out of Dak somehow. But he isn't going to fix the crap Jerry has created. That predated McCarthy and it's a shame that anyone would blame McCarthy or really any coach for that matter for this garbage.

Mike and Dummy will never get beyond the divisional round even with an all world defense.
