I was wrong. Proctor more than held his own yesterday. Houck was smart to have him pull so much. But even when he was not pulling, he did good.

Proctor is not only smart, but he is stronger than he looks. Loved that pancake on the Browns' ILB (Jackson?).

As for the rumor of adding Brooks Bollinger to the the 53, I hope that is not the case.

If anything, add OLB Andy Studebaker to the 53, he could give some insight on the Eagles' playbook for the Cowboys as well as backup Ware and beef up the ST.

Procter really surprised me. They had the confidence in him to put him one on one with Shaun Rogers. And he held his own. He got beat by rogers only two times. Other than that he owned Rogers

Proctor actually had a couple of bad plays. The sack by Rogers (which was negated by a defensive penalty) was his fault. I believe he had a holding penalty also. I'm sure someone is going to do an indepth grading of his body of work. He was by far the worst of the bunch, but that was to be expected.

Overall the oline did a great job.

Yea, after rewatching some of it, Proctor was the reason for Romos hits and busted up chin. Proctor had ALOT of help with double teams. He did ok, but i wouldn’t go so far to say he did great. See what happens with Philly and all those A gap blitzes.

I agree. Proctor had is toubles with Rogers yesterday. In fact, it looked to me like he also got help from Gurode and Rogers still made plays. I would not call Proctors game good. I would say it was OK but thats a matter of opinion so everybody is going to see different things.

I will say this thou. Rogers came to play yesterday. He had an impact and for all those who said he wasn't worth signing, well, I'd say that if the 1st game is any indication, he is definatly going to be worth the signing if he keeps this play up.

Cory Procter proved himself

In a classic case of Jerry hyperbole, the Cowboys' owner/GM said the OL's performance against the Browns might have been the best since he bought the team.

That, of course, is going too far. But the big boys were outstanding in Cleveland, paving the way for a running game that averaged 5.4 yards per carry and giving Tony Romo a ton of time to throw with a few exceptions.

You expect an O-line that features three Pro Bowlers to dominate a sorry defense. That's why Cory Procter's performance stands out.

Procter wasn't perfect, getting flagged for holding and allowing Shaun Rogers to get a hit on Romo. But Procter, who threw the key block on Felix Jones' touchdown, definitely didn't look like a guy who was over his head making his first start at left guard.

There's no need to rush Montrae Holland into the lineup before he's ready. Procter proved he can handle the job in his first game filling in for Kyle Kosier.

The OL played LIGHTS OUT yesterday. And Proctor was part of the OL. For Proctor's first start at OG (ever?), a holding call and a "what if" sack is dang good. It's not like the other OL (Flo & Columbo for instance) were mistake free.

Proctor deserves his kudos, especially since he was lamented as one of the weakest links, not just on the starting OL but depth overall, admittedly I was one of his biggest detractors.

I see what you did there. :D

There is only so much you can gain during practice or substituting during actual games. Proctor has been able to play with the other four starters as a starter. That can only better aid him with his blocking assignments and line calls.

That experience will not help him unseat Kosier or any other starter, but it will make him a much better backup. It's going to be a long season and with guys like Martens becoming expendable, we'll need all the good backups we can keep.

I dont know what game any of you were watching...

Rogers purposely shaded Proctor so he could swim or anhilate proctor on every play. If Gurode didnt help out on him, Proctor would have had 5 holding penalties and Romo been sacked more.

Not sure how ANYONE can possibly think Proctor did something other than play below average.

He is nothing more than a average 2nd stringer that is lucky his QB wasnt creamed by a beast of a man in Rogers more than a couple of times.

Couldn't agree more. I thought Proctor was pretty damn bad. Going up against Rogers is no picnic, but Romo will get killed if Proctor doesn't pick up his game big time, or get pulled for Holland.

Procter wasn't playing lights out yesterday. He held his on on some plays and got flat out beat on some others. He wasn't horrid like some poster seem to make it out to be.

The question, IMO, is how will Proctor do against Bunkly? Bunkly, IMO, is not nearly the load that Rogers was but, the real question is, can Bunkly create enough penatration against Proctor?

I think Romo would disagree.

I don't know. I guess it depends on how quickly Holland comes up to speed. I had not seen it announced one way or the other but I'd actually expect Proctor to start. Just seems as if the two weeks or so Holland has been here is not long enough to be up to speed. I guess we'll see.

Agreed. I would think that since he will be playing against a 4 man line next week instead of a 3 man line, that he won't get as much help as he did this week. Throw in that the Eagles will blitz like crazy and he will have to handle his guy one-on-one much more often than he did this week.

I wish we knew what to expect out of Holland when he is ready to play.

Did anyone else get a crappy flashback of our loss to the Giants last year. For a stretch in the 3rd quarter, Romo got hit like 5 times in a row. I have to say, I was concerned, especially when it wasn't just Procter that let his guy crush Romo. (3 guys!)
