I like our chances in this game. Right now Dallas is playing solid football on offense, defense and special teams. I don't look for that to stop now.

The improvement on our special teams has been huge. The only area that we haven't been explosive is on kick returns. Our coverage has been solid (Butler, Watkins) and our touch backs on kickoffs have been off the charts. McBriar has been his usual dependable self on punts, and Crayton has found a groove, with his main issue being fumbles.

If we can continue this level of play on special teams and avoid penalties in the other 2 phases (offense/defense), we will be a hard team to beat.

I agree. While our kickoff returns have not been great they have not hurt us either. So far this unit has shown great improvment over what it has done in recent years and it does make a differance. Last week with 1 punt return Dallas sealed the Seahawks fate as was the case vs Alt the week before.

I knew when I first saw the schedule that this would be a tough game. Regardless of either teams record it will be a battle of wills and execution, whoever plays sloppy will lose.
I really hate that team. :disseags:

"Blind homer" seems to be a fair accusation of this alleged analyst... he ignores the problems that the Boys will pose the Iggles, and exaggerates the problems they'll cause the Boys...

He makes Maclin and Jackson sound like unstoppable juggernauts, yet the Iggles rank just 13th in the NFL in passing offense... he suggests the Boys will have to play 8 in the box on defense, yet his favorite team is just 15th in rushing offense...

And he ignores altogether that the Boys rank 2nd in the NFL in total offense, 1st in yards per play...

He talks about how many turnovers the Iggles force, then doesn't mention the Boys have turned the ball over just twice since the bye, both on fumbles... he doesn't mention that Romo has just 1 int in his last 178 attempts, none in his last 121 attempts... and in 5 of 7 games this year hasn't thrown one...

He talks about all the Iggles' sacks, conveniently ignoring that they have faced some of the worst pass protecting teams in the NFL-- Kansas City is 2nd worst, Oakland is 3rd worst, Washington is 5th worst, Carolina ranks 15th and Tampa Bay ranks 18th... the two good pass-blocking lines they faced, they sacked Brees twice in 36 attempts, and an immobile Eli, playing on a damaged foot, twice in 41 attempts...

And they'll be going up against a Cowboys team that has only allowed Tony to be sacked 13 times in 230 attempts...

Meanwhile, the Boys started slow in the sacks department, registering none in their first two games, but in the last five games, they've put up 17-- including 4 against Matt Ryan, who hadn't been sacked once in 4 and a half games prior to that... DeMarcus Ware will be going up against Jason Peters, who has pretty much been a turnstile this season (the Iggles have allowed 17 sacks in 236 attempts)...

Basically, this homer is trying to make the Iggles sound unbeatable... the same Iggles that got positively destroyed at home by the Saints, 48-22, giving up 421 yards in the process... the same Iggles that got beat by the pitiful Faiders, and outgained 325 yards to 283... the same Iggles that struggled to beat the comically inept Skins, again getting outgained by that powerful offense, 308 yards to 262... they actually made Jason Campbell look good, as he put up 284 yards passing on them...

The most revealing game was the Saints game... that's the only time they've faced an offense clicking on all cylinders, and they got TORCHED, to the tune of 48 points and 421 yards...

Yeah, when the Iggles get on a roll, they can put up a lot of points, rack up a lot of yards... but this year, they haven't gotten on a roll all that often... and when they face a potent offense, they have trouble stopping it...

But of course, this "analyst" is a homer, so he's not gonna mention inconvenient facts like the ones I've just outlined... LOL...

Speaking of receivers who "feasted on bad defenses," literally 50% of Jackson's catches and 49% of his receiving yards this season have come against Oakland and Kansas City. The rest of the time, he's been a 2-3 catch per week receiver who can usually get one 50-yard touchdown in a game. He's a dangerous and talented deep threat, but he's not a go-to receiver and he doesn't typically take over a game.

You forgot to point out that most of his damage is done when either team has a lead of 15 points or more... And mostly in the first half. Looking at his situational stats on NFL.com when either team is leading by 15 or more points he has 16 catches for 338yds and 3 td's... That's 67% of his total production as a receiver.

His catches are split evenly between the first and second half at 12 and 12. However, in the first half he has 391yds and all 4 of his td's and in the second half only 110 yds and no tds... So his theory about him playing less in second half of the game is seriously flawed... same number of catches less production...

Nothing revolutionary in what he said. I mean he applied the age old factor of getting pressure on the QB to his team and said it was the only way to win. The fact is though that if you don't get pressure on ANY NFL QB then you're in trouble. One of the worst QBs in the league can have a great game against you if you don't get pressure on him. There's nothing genius to what he's saying there. He's stating the obvious.

If Dallas doesn't rattle McNabb early and often, the guy is right. Double Deshaun and watch Maclin light up single coverage.

Dallas can win this game. But they will need to keep McSoupySales from getting in rhythm.

If he is a blind homer and yet he is stating the truth, what does it make the guy trying to ridicule him who ignores that McNabb standing unmolested in the pocket will eat our lunch.

First place is there for the taking. But we will have to play a dang near perfect game to get there.

If we have to play a perfect game just to beat Philly, then there's no way that Oakland could have beaten them, yet they did.

We have to play smart, limit mistakes, take care of the ball and put pressure in McNabb's face.

We don't have to play a "perfect game."

pretty obvious we have to get to McNabb: as he said: isn't rocket science. Same can be said of their defense: problem is they usually do. We're going to have to come up with some shorter ball control stuff to back them off for once.....we just dont' match up well, but that's why you play the game.

We have split with them the last two years and we are playing better now than we were then. The Cowboys have looked better with each passing game and play better on the road. All three phases of the team are coming together. I like our chances Sunday night.

Me too. As long as the secondary can avoid coverage break downs, I think the Cowboys defense holds the Eagles to under 20.

That assumes that all games are equal and that all outcomes would be the same for all teams.

This is a game in our division. Also a game between two teams that know each other well.

Reread my comment. There is a difference between a dang near perfect and perfect game.

But we cannot turn the ball over. We have to establish the run against a team that is tough against the run. They will try to take away Witten, even though he hasn't been the focal point.

Then they will roll the defense toward Austin and force Romo to find Crayton and Williams.

Teams have highs and lows during the season. The Oakland game was obviously a low.

But to be sure they will be up for this game. And any nonsense that Dallas can put on the field a team that drops 8+ penalties and a turnover or two and still stay in this game is blind homerism. Which is closer to the norm than what we saw against Seattle.

This game is when Dallas begins to find out where they are in the league's best.

Bring anything but your best and this gets out of hand with Green Bay on the horizon.

Well I mean.. a bit exaggerated but.. almost all of his points are accurate. Seriously.

I see far less blind homerism in his posts than I see on these forums =p

Eagles are not (should not) be an easy game. They are on a roll right now, and have massive offensive capability. They capitalize on turnovers, and they get a lot of them.

The homerism lies in the fact he's only giving one side of the story... as I noted, he outlines the Iggles' strengths, but he completely ignores the Cowboys'...
