Count me in for drafting a guard first or second round. I don't care. Chances of the top 5 OL on the team staying healthy for the entire season is practically zero. The OL is the one area that I want the Cowboys to overstock!
You can never have enough good OL. Never

Biadasz made the Pro Bowl because pretty much everyone else dropped out for one reason or another.
He did improve significantly this last season; but he is still not much more than a good starter.
Now can he make another step? That is the question that will be answered this year and will be this season that will decide what the boys do there.
Let’s not act like a “good starter” isn’t a positive lol. Biadasz has definitely locked up the starting spot next season, but yes it’s about if he’s good enough for a deal.

I’d resign him now on a reasonable deal if possible. If he takes another step he’s going to be expensive and premium OL get paid in the offseason. Even average guys like McGovern get good money.

His pass protection is pretty iffy. He has trouble against bigger DTs. We do need to upgrade the position

I know most posts will be about Dak. Please keep it on the field football related. As to accomplishments and what is needed to improve.Though it all has been discussed over and over.
Not the usual shenanigans.

Farniok, can we see more progress this season, seems he made progress from year 1 to 2. This is that 3rd year rule some coaches look at.
How much depth can he add or provide.
I feel like Farniok is much better at center than guard. That was something mentioned about Biadasz when he came out. Seems they are better blocking at angles than head up

Where was the progress? Most said he was supposed to unseat the terrible Biadasz. Never happened as Biadasz just made the pro bowl.
He was massively up against it. He had to not only be better than Biadasz but be better enough that the staff risked continuity with both the positions and communication at the LOS.

To me it’s not unlike McGovern. He’d been okay when called on but didn’t really get enough opportunity to show his full potential. A year as a starter and McGovern got a better deal than Williams did (of course CW went to another level as an OC for Miami). I don’t think it’s impossible that the same happens with Biadasz and Farniok and I don’t think the staff always get it right.

I have one player dropping out and that’s Kelce. Are you sure it was more than one guy? That’s still a good accomplishment to have one of the best in the NFC; I also think it’s worth noting the guy gets better each year he’s been in the league. We need him to get better but I’m not sure there is a guy who can unseat him this year.

I am betting the boys decide to wait and see if he improves more. Its a hard call to make sometimes.

Seems like they are very high on Farniok but I can't see them thinking he would be a good starter. There will be a decision that someone has to make on draft day(s).

Don't think they see him as a starter, IMO. I haven't seen any tape breakdowns on the guy, so have no opinion of my own. PFF score is horrendous, in high thirties.

If Avila or Tippmann drop to #58 they would both be good considerations. I think Biadasz is on the last year of his contract?
Yep, last year of Biadasz's contract. He's a great deal for a 4th round comp pick, but he's a below average center. Not the kind of guy to give free agent money to. I consider C one of the keystone positions on an offense. We shouldn't just be hoping for the best in 2024.

"Not a good starter" doesn't sound that high on him. And that's about where I am with Farniok. Beats a sharp stick in the eye for a backup, but he's a stopgap begging for an upgrade. And he's our *quality* interior olineman backup. We could pick 2 interior o guys in the top 4 rounds and not be overdoing it.

I'm happy with downroster guys who can be serviceable backups, but we need to draft guys who at least might develop into starters.

This year he took a big step forward; I would call him an average to better than average starter at this time. We have been spoiled over the years with so many excellent and better centers that we have higher expectations. Getting a top level center is not easy or common.

Any hopes of Farniok being more than deep rotational depth are just wishful thinking.

Well, you can always upgrade almost any position.

“Need” is a relative term. I would say we “need” a bunch of upgrades at other spots before we replace our Center.
Is it though? Did any of us see Steele becoming a starter?
I hear you but Steele is *barely* starting and if we had a little more, he’d be a rotational guy.

And … they are different guys.

Do you think Farniok can be in the mix for online depth 6-8? And if he is, is it out of necessity or merit?

I would love for us to find hidden gold, I just haven’t seen enough to tell me he can be that.

I agree, I would not mind if they drafted a Guard at #1 or #2.
Even more so if they find a quality capable interior who can play and swing at both OG and C - that saves on numbers of the game day active list.

I think Farniok could be a future option at center in the event they don't keep Biadasz in 2024. Still want the Cowboys to draft a guard somewhere in the first three rounds.
