I am anxious for us to upgrade the position. Malik was OK but doesn't seem like the solution to be the guy behind Pollard or to form a duo with Pollard. We should take a RB in the 2nd or 3rd round of the draft.

With Pollard, Jones, and a Rookie RB to be determined all in front of him, Davis may struggle to get carries.

He deserved some of Zeke's carries the last half of the season. He would have had a higher ypc.

It looks like he might have too much competition this year.
Malik might end ^ starting. Thats a bold statement but if the kid gets a fair chance in camp, watch him shine.

When was he even in that game? He had zero attempts and zero receptions. We just had Zeke in there plodding away for 1 yard carries.
He came in and got blew up on a blitz. Almost got Dak killed. He was immediately benched and never saw the field again. A one play disaster.

I'll freely admit to being one who admired the way Malik Davis played with the aggressiveness that he did. He really attacked holes in a fearless manner. Once through them, I believe he displayed a level of explosive quickness that most fans would rightly be impressed with. I'll be looking forward to seeing him perform in training camp and beyond. Whether it's on a regular basis, or more occasional, remains to be seen. ;)

Oh yes, I agree. But I do like what I seen from him to be a depth guy still.

At this time it shapes up to be a wide open, all out competition during training camp and preseason for the two (possibly three?) positions other than Pollard's spot (plus a place or two on the practice squad).
Seems everyone in the group is on equal footing to make it.
° Davis
° Rico Dowdle (if can stay injury-free)
° drafted\ UDFA rookies --because of the limited NFL experience both Dowdle and Davis have had (20 games- 7 rushes and 12 games- 38 rushes respectively)
° Ronald Jones - even though he has 5 years in the league, his best work were his two middle seasons with the Buccaneers in 2019 and 2020. Jones was decent with a limited role his last year in TB (2021); but he didn't do jack this past season with KC.

Maybe I'm wrong but Davis appeared to me to be a very straight, north/south type runner. Not a lot of vision, timing or swerve. If you give him a hole he is going to look good but he didn't seem to be the type to set up blockers, shift into holes, etc.

He will get a chance and hopefully he does great but I'm not banking on it.

Not surprising, at all -- most rookie RBs require serious development in their pass blocking. He'll be obliged to improve.

I saw a small, slow player who would at best be left on the practice squad after major focus on greatly improving at the position during the offseason!

He was on the roster and should have been used during the playoffs when Pollard went down. He could have taken some dump offs and pounded the middle some. No need to abandon the run.

The RB competition should be a good one.

Davis
Dowdle
Jones
and 2 draftees

or undrafted, or another FA veteran before camp.

He's a scrub.

Our best chance is to draft a RB in round 1-2.
