Not true at all, I didn't speak of potential whatsoever, not did I even bash the Cowboys. Armstrong has 16-18 sacks over the last two seasons depending on the source so I'm not sure what the official number is. Regardless that's a legitimate starter in this league, and he's someone I was rooting for us to resign since the offseason began. Fowler I'm not nearly as high on, but he's proven to be a reliable rotational piece. Would I rather have our DE group than Washingtons? Absolutely. I'd also rather have our secondary. On the flip side I'd much rather have their DT and LB room.
Just because I don't bash every other team in the division and talk up the Cowboys to go 17-0 every year doesn't mean I'm twisting anything. I'm just calling it like I see it.
I can only guess what DQ has in mind for that defense this year, but with the players they have I would almost anticipate a similar cover 3 based scheme he used in Seattle. He's got really good veteran players at both levels up the middle. Certainly lacks a Micah Parsons type of chess piece, but all their front 7 guys are capable of getting to the QB. That secondary is rough, but they have good size at CB with Michael Davis and St-Justie being 6'2+ 200lbs corners. I don't know much about their secondary at all aside from Chinn, but given the size of these guys I see a whole of to press coverage at the LOS with double safety help. I wouldn't just expect this is the Dallas defense copied and pasted in Washington at all. I could be way off there, but I'm very intrigued by what Washington is building on the defensive side of the football, and I wouldn't sleep on them this year....especially if that young QB shows anything.
