I have a lingering foot injury that I thought I'd share on here and see if anyone had something similar. Here's what happened:

About 5 weeks ago I was in the shower and dropped a full 44 oz sams club shampoo bottle on my foot up near where it meets the ankle:laugh2:

Well obviously there was immediate swelling and bruising which dissipated over the course of a week. Well fast forward 5 weeks later and I am still have lots of pain/soreness in my middle toes and in the very front part of the middle of my foot (inches away from impact).

Went to the Dr. last week and they did xrays and said that there isnt anything broken and it was just soft tissue that would heal in a week. well a week later I'm still having issues.

I can walk pretty much normally now but if I put too much weight on the wrong spot, turn the wrong way, step the wrong way, etc. I have soreness and shooting pain. I would still say that it hurts or at the very least is sore more than not. Is this STILL the soft tissue healing?

My advice to you is to buy a smaller bottle of shampoo!:lmao2:

The older you are the longer it takes these injuries to heal, especilly if you're on your feet alot. Time is your best ally.

You wear shoes or boots all the time and if so do you tie them kind of tight?

Might just be that you are wearing your shoes too tight OR you just might be going on about things like it is normal (walking around, on your feet a good deal) and just not giving it the time to heal.

Or you could just have a really rare fungal situation that will slowly eat your toes off your feet as the years go on. Ok...Just kidding on that part.

Sounds like Morton's neuroma. Get your PCP to refer to you a podiatrist who might suggest a cortisone or alcohol sclerosing injection (they last for awhile) as well as trying special orthotics.

I would suspect an occult fracture although it may just be tendinitis. I'd ask your doctor to give you some NSAIDs and see if it gets better over the next 1-2 weeks. If no resolution then I'd get a CT looking for a fracture you can't see on xray. Obviously you need to be reevaluated and I'd be sure to see an orthopedist perhaps one with a specialty in the foot and ankle.

Sounds to me like something that will heal in time. The more you can rest the foot the better, obviously.

If it were me, I'd give it more time before seeing a specialist.
