If you're going to build a straw man argument, at least get it right. They deflated their balls. Importantly, and directly contradicting your straw man, the deflategate scandal was an actual rules violation, which the Tush Push is not.

My point by asking that question is because the poster said good teams shouldn’t be punished for figuring out ways to win. If you are gonna respond or claim I’m making a “straw man” argument at least understand the context.

OL push their running backs on down field runs all the time. No one is trying to ban that. What’s the difference?

As far as fans liking it, I imagine that varies. But I think that most fans, frankly, would love to see their teams have offensive lines and quarterbacks strong enough to run it and feel confident basically every time on 4th and 1. I know I would.

If they thought “boring” made a difference wouldn’t they ban throwing the ball into the ground to stop the clock? That is a less than exciting play. Throwing the ball ten yards out of bounds is not exciting. If the league is fine with that crap, the “tush push” is far more exciting than those plays.

Anyone who is honestly engaging in the conversation, rather than furthering an agenda at the expense of the conversation, would automatically understand that 'within the rules' is the context in which the initial comment was made. You did the opposite with your strawman.

Teams will perfect it. They will put a runningback at qb if the qb isn't strong enough with his legs.

"Figuring out ways to win" by cheating/breaking rules, like the Patriots were known to do (and Michigan, similarly), is not the same as being creative within the existing rules structure.

Maybe I'm wrong then. I just assumed everyone else felt like me. I don't like the QB tush push. I don't mind runners doing it after they've passed by another offensive player. I just don't like the QB doing it.

But maybe I'm in the minority. We'd probably have to do a poll.

Too late for something like that. Once the commissioner supported the “tush push” ban under the auspices of player safety, suggesting any rule change that can possibly make play less safe will never be considered.

Had supporters of the ban not come up with the bull**** players safety nonsense in deference to the “tush push” the measures you’re suggesting could possibly be put on the table.

Spiking the ball? It usually is happening when a team is trying to win it comeback. I wouldn’t call those boring.

Whether a quarterback sneak, tush-push or stunting the right guard into the left B gap followed by the RB followed by the QB, It's in-your-face smash'em bang'em football. No one is getting hurt. The only problem seems to be jealousy. We bumble all over ourselves while those guys can make it work!

Pathetic excuses to ban a productive play. And this "it's boring" stuff is carpola! As a fan of the game we are all on edge during these QB sneak/tush push plays because we can win or lose on the few inches it represents. It's only boring if you're watching golf.
