New Texas Longhorn uniforms revealed
Posted on March 29, 2012 by sportsmerchnews

A few weeks ago, we reported that there were rumors floating around that the University of Texas might be messing with their football uniforms. Even we thought the rumors were unlikely, since Texas’ uniforms are some of the most classic and iconic in college football.

But lets not forget that Texas is a Nike school – and Nike has a lot of pull these days. If they’ve convinced a storied program like Ohio State to mess with their jerseys, they can convince Texas.

Shown below, the images of the uniforms are strikingly different than what they usually wear.

And as we reported before, the color black is certainly involved – in a huge way. We’re told these jerseys are called “practice jerseys”, but we’re also being told they will probably be used for the Spring Game.

Looks like absolute trash.

I'm not a Longhorns fan but I'd be pissed to watch my favorite college team come out looking like that.

I actually like the pants.

The jerseys are downright hideous. The middle one looks absolutely disgusting.

You know how Danny DeVito is the leftover skidmark twin from Arnolds super sperm cocktail in Twins?

This jerseys are the Danny DeVito to the Cincinnati Bengals.......and that's saying something.

Changing uniforms like this is great for merchandise sales but I hate to see it happen. I hope the Cowboys and Aggies can hold out indefinitely, but I know they will eventually cave as well.

I think burnt orange is a terrible color, so I don't like that one, but I think the other two are really sweet.

Granted I'm not from Texas, nor do I give a rip about the Horns, but I think they look cool :laugh2:

Get ready for new jerseys in a couple of days.

Nike is gonna probably gonna add a little spice.

Did Texas so thoroughly alienate the rest of the former Big XII that they got kicked out and had to join the Arena League?

Same here. I don't even like UT, but I'd hate to see them run those horrid things out there.

And the pants are fine with the state on it. The rest is awful.

I kind of hope the same for OU (though I'm not really a fan of theirs). The storied programs at least shouldn't mess with tradition.

At least the SEC seems to have resisted the goofy unis and stuck with the classics for the most part.

as for this, i hope its only a spring game publicity stunt they are pulling, because if they use these during the regular season, i swear i will pull all the donations i plan to make after i hit the mega millions tomorrow!

Georgia's was indeed truly awful. (And they got their butts kicked by Boise.)

I thought LSU's was similar to something they'd worn long ago, kind of like one OU wore a time or two.

But at least those had some nod to tradition, and aren't done on a regular basis. Changeups like Michigan and Notre Dame wore this year are very cool, I think.

ya, those were cool, i think those were adidas though. i seriously think nike is just messing around seeing how ridiculous they can get the uniforms to get and schools still use them :D

Luckily for now A&M is Adidas and I really like what they've done to our uniforms.

Those Longhorn unis are pure trash, though. I really hope it doesnt happen, you don't mess with iconic stuff like that.

Those are way nicer in terms of material than any practice jerseys I've ever seen an NFL team wear, let alone a college program.

That "Eyes of Texas" bit and the Texas flag make me seriously doubt these are just practice uniforms. You don't put that kind of detail and stitching into practice jerseys and pants.
