They may as well make it touch football. The coaching has gotten so pathetic that they need rule changes to protect their prima donnas instead of coaching that teaches them how to prevent injuries.
The ONLY reason defensive ends are so dangerous is because the NFL puts emphasis on scoring, so coaches no longer want to keep an extra back in the backfield to block. They prefer an extra receiver in the game to promote offense.
It's poor coaching, plain and simple, fueled by the league's quest for ratings.

Coaches can only deal with the rules in place, they don't make the rules.

Inevitable in this modern era. If a guy takes a brutal hit the entire globe will know about it and the hit will be replayed through various social media outlets. The league doesn't want to deal with the fallout.

and to think they used to show highlights like Jacks up where they showed the big hit and people applauded. There are certain risk in playing football, players know it and are paid very well because of it. league could face a bigger fall out should hardcore fans stop watching

Speaking of defenseless player.

Pearce had a run in Dallas when it seemed he ran through the entire defense.

GMFB went over this play over and over on Kyle Brandt, the idiot hater. In his Angry runs segment.

I noticed Pearce lowered him helmet and initiated helmet to helmet contact with Hooker as he was tackled.

Remember some years ago when Zeke did this, and was called for a personal foul, lowering his helmet. Negated a 1st down. Wonder why this was not called in our favor.

That was the 1st time it was called. And I don’t think it has been called on an offensive player since.

I remember the leading with the head rule. There was concerns every time a RB ducked, it would be a flag. Meanwhile hitting a defensive player in the face mask is never called on WRs or RBs. They can stiff arm to the face and that is all good.

No way! 15 yard penalty is enough.
The game is fast paced. Crap happens that players don’t intend….penalize.
If after review, officials believe there was an attempt at injuring the other player or an intentional targeting of the head, then sure….eject the player. But I’ll also argue that any rule that can result in ejection should also include roster expansion so the entire game doesn’t become a joke.
If they want to get head injuries out of the game then they need to institute an election for lowering the head to tackle or an offensive player lowering the head before contact. These guys have no one to blame for head injuries other than themselves and it sickens me that they try to sue the league for it.

It is one of those calls that may happen every blue moon. Same with RB being called for facemask, seldom ever called but now and then it get flagged
"blue moon" correct when the refs NEED to affect a game, keep it competitive they will call what they want and ignore the rest until necessary.

otherwise, they allow more then 50% of possible flags go and call them when they feel like it.. we all know games aren't rigged, faked or scripted but they for sure are affected and steered by the crews who decide what to call and what to let go during game..

no conspiracy theory's but facts, no ref or crew are that bad or blind to allow plays or two like what happened in the OT GB game loss be missed..i know 25 possible penalty's each game can easily and legitimately called , however they decide when to do so and when to eat the flag..nope not nit pick type or gray area, simply affect game by only throwing the ones they decide to..

Yes, that play you speak of took place a few plays after this one. But a QB doesn't need his head for anything. Lol.

Extremely surprised that wasn't called on us, it usually is, less than that has been called many times.

This is a horrible idea considering how inconsistent the officials are on calling these penalties. Some QBs seem to have a little more "protection" than others.

Coaches can only deal with the rules in place, they don't make the rules.
Coaches choose to ignore the principles of football and safety when they focus on scoring rather than the basics.
If a halfback setup prevents sacks and they choose a third receiver instead, they are ignoring basics. And what's sad is that a halfback setup actually opens up a third passing option when it's used correctly.
But today's NFL focuses more on ratings than football principles.

I like the making it reviewable part. The game is played fast, and what may look like a vicious hit may not be. How many times have we seen a replay, and the hit doesn't look that bad?

However, I don't like automatic ejections at all. I think the official should be able to judge that a hit was egregious and thus an ejection is warranted, and maybe even confirm that via replay, but automatic ejections would harm the game IMO.

Putting a judgement call under review didn't work so well with PI.
