Props to Columbo

I was very sceptical of the decision to start Marc over Free but Marc was able to not only start but play the entire game. If there was any rust, he knocked it off quickly

I was proud of Marc. He played pretty well. Struggled a bit here and there but he was solid through out the majority of the game.

I wasn't sure if it was right to throw him right into the fire like they did. But it worked out he looked prepared and played well.

Columbo is a special type of player. He is one of those guys that came into the league with a pedigree of sorts, coming from BC. He almost lost it all with a couple of freak injuries. Parcells gave him a shot and now he is playing like each play may well be his last. That is what he brings to the game, Brooking is intense emotional player on defense and Columbo is just as intense and emotional on offense, and scary. Of all the players Parcells picked up as reclamation projects I am so glad he picked up Columbo.

If the coaches did not feel he could do the job or was not ready he would not have been out there.

He gets to practice against Ware and Spencer so I'm sure they tested him. Big question mark was going to be stamina since he has missed that much time.

There are some players and positions that rust would really affect.

The reason I didn't doubt Colombo would be able to pick up where he left off is because he doesn't rely on great athletic or movement skills. He relies on pure nasty power and great technical skills. Those are things that you don't really lose by sitting out several weeks.

Now, he could have let himself get out of shape and not have the stamina to get through a game, but I just can't envision Colombo being that kind of player.

He's a great lineman, and much, much better than some on here seem to think. (That's not aimed at you. )

Check out Marc's attempt to stop the pass rusher that got inside of him and headed towards Tony. That looks like a diving shoelace tackle to me.

Great post. I always thought as well that Colombo is to the offense what Brooking is for the defense. It's great to know that we have both Free and Colombo at the tackle position and I hope both could be starting at the same time in the near future (with Free as LT).
