it's sure great to have him on our team.

pretty much money on fg's..

but one thing i've noticed this year is he is sending the ball 8... 9 yards or completely out of the endzone on kickoffs this year.

this could be a major factor if we make a playoff push.

Great kicker...but needs to make a big one.

Makes the David Buehler project look even more ridiculous.......:bang2:

Complete waste. I still shake my head at some of those who supported that ordeal.

His kickoffs are so bipolar. Sometimes he'll kick it out of the endzone sometimes they'll catch on the 5 yard line.

I wonder as he gets older will his led strength will improve? I fon't know what type of strength training kickers go through, but can his range improve that much?

Wonder what Buehler is up to these days. I don't think he's even worked out for a team since we got rid of him :laugh1:

This is a good thread, I like Bailey. I would like to see him make some clutch kicks from longer out, but I think this was a good pick by Jerry & company. I rarely give his administration any credit.

Can't hold one kick against him but he misses the game winner at Baltimore, then the next week, comes in and nails the same distance :bang2:

I really think he thought he was going to get iced by the Ravens on that kick so he wasn't fully concentrating.. he over thought the situation.

He also missed against Zona and got one blocked against NYG last year - which may not be his fault..

I think those are all 3 of the clutch kicks in his career. Not a great success rate in big moments.

He hit a game winner vs Miami on T Day last year but I think it was a chip shot. Still not a good rate

I think we should have kept Forbath

He wasn't even KO until recently. We would have had to carry 2 kickers again....

Forbath's one miscue has been an extra point attempt that was blocked because he kicked it too low. He also is trying to master the art of the kickoff -- he's been a field goal specialist for much of his kicking life. He actually changes footwear for kickoffs, wearing a full-cleated version of the very tight shoe instead of the one with the shaved cleats he uses for field goals.

Forbath admits his kickoffs still need work.

"It's just something you've got to get comfortable with, in a groove, and we're working towards that right now," he said.

The Giants block wasn't his fault - JPP trucked someone on the interior to get that block.

He nailed the game tying FG in SF that year, too. That was around 48 yards if I remember so far from a gimme.

He nailed the Miami kick on last Thanksgiving from around 45 yards.

He hit the game tying shot against Cleveland to put the game in OT and then hit the winner in OT.

He hit the late kick against Washington to give us the shot with the onside kick.

He has made a lot of late game kicks. But the misses against Baltimore and Arizona do sting.

Chances are that he will get better and stronger with age and practice.

You guys forget he made a game winner in his 2ND game vs SF last year as well as the MIA T-Day game. Look, he's money from 49 and in and whenever he's been given a realistic chance he's made it. Of course the fiascos in ARZ and BAL are exceptions that are on the coach's lack of aggressiveness and clock management. Based on the circus we've had at kicker since Chris Boniol we should all be thankful that Bailey has finally settled down this position.
