PS Question?

I'm sure many of you know this off the top of your head, but a couple of questions please.

1. When placing a player on the practice squad, does the player have to pass some kind of waiver claim process?

2. If someone tries to sign one of our practice squad players, do we have an oppotunity to match the offer and promote them to the 53 man roster to avoid losing them?

Just curious because it would seem we have some tough decisions about some of the young players on this team.

TIA

1. Yes.

2. Not formally -- but if these guys can make deals with the team -- e.g., double their PS salary, etc.

New rules for the PS, I believe, require the team signing another teams PS player to pay a minimum of 4 game checks to the player - so that makes "matching" a little less likely but it also reduces the #of PS players that leave.

Are you sure about that -- I don't think this is like an RFA where we have an official opportunity to match

I don't officially think the Cowboys have the right to match another team's offer to our PS player, but if the player wants to stay with the Cowboys I think he certainly could ask us if we interested in matching the offer by moving him onto the team.
