Fans are fickle and few are football savy. They see Dak being successful 11-2 with a very strong OL and run game and unexpected quality defensive play minus a pass rush but still quality. However they have not really taken into account the weakness of our schedule and the fact that the few good teams we have played ( how many are currently over. 500 ? ) laid an egg against us minus the Giants. They assume these factors OL, Running Game, Defense can offset his lack of experience. They got emotionally attached to Dak and winning after a dismal season last year. They are afraid to be disappointed if Romo is the guy come playoff time. If we were win a playoff game with Romo then they might get excited then Romo might get injured and it takes all the wind out of the sails.

Some actually think Dak has a high probability of winning a playoff game and will be satisfied if he does. Some hold out hope Dak could lead us to a SB this year. Dak might win a playoff game but it's very very unlikely he's going to win a SB this year nor should he be expected to. Some people don't care what he does in the playoffs they will just be glad knowing if Dak does start in a playoff game Romo is gone n they wanted him gone years ago good riddens. They are afraid if Romo does play in the playoffs and is his old 2014 self they will have to see him for another year or two.

Objective folks who know football know in the playoffs experience is much more important to winning than mobility they understand Romo's experience gives a higher probility of a playoff win and is the only hope of SB victory baring a miricle but it comes at the price of a higher risk of injury and possible loss of momentum.

My argument is that this is a lot of psychological burden on Dak to put the hopes n dreams of a SB victory on him. He doesn't have the experience that gives him the ability to read complicated defensive schemes he is very likely to continue to struggle this could slow his growth n affect his confidence. However if Romo were to start then get hurt when Dak comes off the bench he will have a totally different perspective. I think it gives him a much greater chance to be successful because Romo got hurt could not do it so why would they (fans, teammates coaches owner) be upset if a rookie doesn't quite get it done, it frees him up psychologicly. With Romo on the bench healthy he feels much more pressure. He knows the "ROMO gives us a better chance" theory has some logic to it he doesn't want or need that hanging over his head. Psychological factors are important, people often over look them. Bottom line if you want to see Dak start a playoff game be prepared to watch him struggle. Please be aware no rookie has ever won a SB and it's very very unlikely he will. Dak would be more psychologicly "free" if he was coming off the bench in a playoff game.

Some will argue " you want that pressure on him, you want Romo breathing down his neck will make him focus". Some will point to the 49's Montana Young situation n say " look how well Young played with Montana breathing down his neck. That might be true or Young might have been successful because he was prepared, he wasn't a rookie.

Dak's struggles began about the same time Romo suited up could be an indication of his psychological situation. We are putting a lot on a rookie even a rookie of great character and quality like Dak Prescott.

I disagree with those that claim that making a change to Romo would cause Dak to become upset angry pull an Oswieler etc . If a player the quality of Romo can sit for the good of the team Dak can too. Plus It may very well free him up psychologicly. Daks not afraid of Romos success he realizes even if Romo wins a SB Romo is likely gone next year and if not next year he's likely retired in 2 yrs. Romo might win the big one this year n hang it up. He would have proven all he needed to prove he would no longer be one of the best QBs never to win it all. He would have most likely cemented his HOF status considering he also has the 3rd highest QBR in the NFL. Dak have no worries the future is bright !

I think you've overlooked the relative ease of our schedule to begin the year.

Romo came back for the Ravens game.

The total win loss record for teams we played before the Ravens was 45-70-2 (.393)

The total win loss record for teams we played from the Ravens on was 23-15-1 (.602)

So the issue here is Dak's performance against teams with more success. You remove the Giants from the win loss record and the teams we actually beat in that time period are .355. That's the equivalent of beating a team with a 5-10-1 record...

8 of our games have been against teams above .500. In those games we are 6-2, yet we only have 3 games against teams that are above .600 and in those games we are 1-2 and we barely beat the Steelers. If that gives anyone confidence going into the playoffs, by all means...
