Same here, as someone from the U.K. who was in his early teens when punk exploded here, I can’t take bands like Offspring as punk.
That said, the difference between British punk and American punk is absolutely massive… there is really no comparison.
I’d say the only American punk band that transcends both cultures were the Ramones, and maybe the Clash were the only British one.
I don’t think America really ‘got’ bands like the Pistols, Banshees, Damned, Stranglers, SLF, Sham 69 etc

The production was definitely better. I also like some of their stuff after Graves moved on and Jerry Only took on the vocals as well
