Ok guys here is our young kickoff-punt returner, Reggie McNeil, if other teams dont grab him first, and he can be a 3rd backup QB too, joe

:thumbdo: I'm sure teams are lining up to grab him.

I remember when Reggie was a better QB than Vince Young in high school... It's funny how much things change.

Has anybody paid much attention to him in the preseason? I really liked his potential back before the draft.

No thank you. I wasn't impressed with him in college playing QB. I don't think he could make our team as a wideout with the emergence of Hurd and Rector

No, he could, this kid has pure speed, 4.33 in 40. He is faster than quincy carter was too and more mobile. Only thing that was bad about him, he wanted to play QB and nothing else, but when he dropped in 6th round or so to bengals he accepted the move.

now, he is really humble, and would be in my mind a great pickup. I am not saying he would be a super QB, just a good backup in time, especially in red zone, he can run and throw really good.

he is kinda like randall cunningham or however you spelled his name, not a great passer, adequate, but nible with his feet, and very mobile. Could be a find at WR or safety in time.

But right now can be a super kickoff returner or punt returner, not long term on punt returns, since he is real tall and skinny, but he could help us in special teams, till he learns a new position from QB and he could be a good emergency QB.

Who would you cut? Rector? Hurd?

There are other players we can cut besides a WR. Cutting Copper has made us have 5 WRs, adding a 6th one wouldn't be a bad thing.

I'm getting the feeling that we think our players are better than anyone else's out there. Now, I think we are a solid team and such, but there are players that are getting cut from other teams that could still help us.

Where's HeavyHitta31?

He said he could play QB in the NFL, not only can he not play QB, he can't play anywhere in the NFL.

HeavyHitta31 was wrong? I can't believe it.

Adding a 6th WR would be an absolute waste.

I was going to tear this post apart but then realized you were making jokes and trying to get someone to bite. You almost got me big time.

Well, in this guys case, he might also be a decent kick returner and emergency QB.

And as I have seen in the past, a 6th WR wouldn't have been a waste if we kept Copper. He was seen as someone we needed.

Now that he has been cut, keeping a 6th WR is a waste. Things don't work like that, just cause he is from another team instead of someone we have grown fond of cause he is on our squad already.

We do have 6 wrs and its not a waste if they either play STs or are inactive:

1. Owens
2. Glenn
3. Crayton
4. Rector (pr)
5. Hurd
6. Austin

Austin is a head scratcher for sure.

It is and it isn't.

IMO, he was the best long term project of all the young WR we brought into camp if you consider his natural / physical gifts. So in that sense, it makes sense.

On the other hand, he is probably the rawest of the bunch playing at tiny Monmouth. In this sense, this is a bit of a head scratcher.

Personally, I was rooting for the kid to make the squad, but in reality thought that he'd be cut and signed to the practice squad. So this is surprising to me. He's by no means out of the woods yet, however and I definitely won't be surprised if he's still cut and brought back to the PS.

IMO, Reggie McNeal is more talented than Patrick Crayton, and we know how Crayton's career has continued to go up. If he finds the right coach, he'll find a niche somewhere in the NFL.

I thought I remember reading that Austin really wasn't that fast?

I think he ran in the 4.45 range at the combine, plenty fast for a guy who's in the 6'3 / 215lbs range. Good speed / size combo, things that can't be taught or refined.

If he hangs around and has time to develop, I think he could be a serviceable 2nd or 3rd receiver. It's a really big if for a UDFA tho.
