This probably didn't deserve it's own thread, but I was just thinking and got kind of excited. I haven't been excited about watching our punt returns in how long? I honestly can't remember.

For the past several years, it's been merely a change of possession play. Usually it means bathroom break after the 3rd down stop because of the commercial break, followed by the punt, followed by yet another commercial break. Now, I genuinely cannot wait to see Pacman on a few punt returns.

For comparison, in '06 Pacman had a 12.9 return average and 3 TDs. If I remember correctly, a couple of those were virtually game winners. Crayton has a career average of 8.1 yards with 0 TDs in his career.

you know what was even worse, was when Newman was back there, i just didn't get that excited either. It was more like i hope he breaks it, but most likely, he won't.

Pacman did lose a few fumbles but one thing is he doesn't try and fair catch all the time.

I just love watching him on returns cause hes got that huge helmet on the little guy.

I agree theogt. The thing about it is, you know Adam can. You know Adam will. You just don't know when.

To think that the whole game will now be exciting is a great feeling to have.

At least he wont give me a heart attack like Crayton did the way he carried the ball. He couldnt have held it farther away from his body

I could see Pac being a little rusty to start, but he should at least give us a nice avg. We dont necessarily need him to be Hester, but a nice 12-14 yard per would suffice.

As for kickoff returns, Jenkins is pretty eficient here, but I dont know if I want 2 of my top 3 or 4 corners exposed like that. Maybe Scandrick?

Felix Jones, Isaih Stanback and/or Miles Austin are all KR candidates.

Maybe im being pessimistic, I just dont want so many big time contributors exposed like that. I think Austin may get cut.

I could see Stanback

exposed like what? you put your best players on the field to do what there good at doing.

You have Stanback, Pacman, Felix, and Jenkins who can all do KR's, and only one of them has a chance at starting.

Yeah you cant not play your players because youre afraid they are going to get hurt. You cant play or coach scared.

Pacman is easily a top 5 punt returner and really is right up there with hester. A good return with our offense = 6 points. A return for a TD is a huge momentum maker.

Crayton is a fair catch waiting to happen or a return carrying the ball like a loaf of bread, or a wanna be Primetime..

Were going to be counting heavily on Felix, Pac, and Jenkins. If its close Id rather use a guy like Stanback or Scandrick.

JMO, Pac Man will be the full time punt returner, while Felix Jones will be the primary kick returner. Isiah Stanback/Orlando Scandrick will probably be the other kick returner

Well semantics queens, anyone want to dispute this statement. Clearly it is not correct to say that Crayton tries to "fair catch all the time"

Takers?

Why? so when we are sitting our 18, we have to march 82 yards in minute and half to win?

Or is so that when we need to hold on to the ball and get a FG to seal the game, we have them come in and fumble the ball right to them.

You put the guys out there, that can make a game changing play.

Hester is so damn good, you had the colts giving the bears the ball at the 40 yard line in the SB, so he wouldn't score on them.

I'm so glad you don't coach our football team.

Of course this deserves its own thread! Field position is HUGE! I'll take any advantage we can get. Our redzone chances should increase. As you said, we just take the ball with little advancement and no big plays. Those days are OVER!

I am so excited for the return game! Lets hope the new coverage unit can match them.

Theebs, this was a good great post.

First, field position is very important, if you remember Pacells said, field position can determine a game in itself. By constantly moving up in field position on punt returns and kickoffs, you can score easier than when you have to march 80 plus yards all the time.

As far as our kickoff returners look at what we have drafted the last few years. I see Felix Jones and Stanback as our main kickoff return guys. Both can easily block for each other and return it to the house. Felix may have Stanback beat in the speed issue on that because I cant get the true speed of Stanback yet since he recovered from his foot injury.

Scandrick will be used moreso on kick coverages and blocking punts and field goals since Scandrick excelled at that in college. THen, Scandrick will be our 5th defensive back, he has good skills in coverage and deep deep speed.

I think a few more gun runners we need on special teams will be Courtney Brown, along with Choice, whom wants to make plays, so best place for Choice with Jones and barber sharing the running position is for Choice to make it on special teams. Choice doesnt have great speed, so i dont see him on kickoffs.

Yes, it will be exciting to see Adam Jones (remember now guys we have to get use to calling Pacman Adam Jones, since Deion Sanders said he wants to everyone to call Pacman no longer Pacman but Adam Jones). I have a new nickname for Adam Jones guys how about CapMan. Yes, I am drooling to see Adam Jones returning punt returns. It's like the Rocket said on a cowboys show, rocket ishmael said that what the Cowboys needed was a great punt returner to take this team to a new level. When you score on punt returns and kickoffs, it lifts a team up.
