Purdy signs for 5 years at $265 mill

I'm not a big Dak fan, but this is going to come across like I'm defending him. I would use a different comparison. Dak lost to Purdy in the quarter mile. Dak was driving a Honda Civic, Purdy a Corvette. You going to blame the driver? Quarterbacks don't play in a vacuum.
I blame the driver of the Honda if the driver of the Honda doesn’t take care of the car. Using your analogy of car racing. If the overall budget of car for a season is 100K for every car that races. One driver takes 60K salary and the other driver takes 53K salary. Now the one car has an advantage of 7K that the team can use to upgrade the car, get oil changes, better tires, etc.

So using your analogy Dak drives a Honda and Purdy a corvette. Completely agree. Purdy just made a decision to give his team more money to spend to upgrade the team. Dak took more of a salary. Purdy’s decision made sure his corvette will have better upkeep than Dak’s Honda. So not only does Purdy have the better car but also more money to make sure the car is in better shape.

I think people may be misunderstanding my anger. My anger is at Jerry for sucking with how he does contracts and our players being more concerned about their salaries than their success. If someone wants to argue that there’s no difference between 53 and 60 million. Than my counter argument is why can’t our players ever sign team friendly deals. I counter argue that there’s not a big difference between 60 million and 55. Or with CD, 30 million instead of 35.

No our players want to win the salary bowl and not the Super Bowl. That’s why our team will remain a Honda because our drivers don’t care about the car.

I’ll say it again if there was no salary cap I absolutely wouldn’t care. But the salary cap is team resources and that’s why I care.

I guess the eagles have a tesla s plaid...

Yet, so many of you will just keep on complaining every day, every week, every month and every year nonstop. Y'all don't stop, nor do you care how much you ruin it for everyone else. No, sir. You have to keep acting out all the time no matter what.

So why do you still follow this team?

It shows you how Dak held Jerry and Stephen Jones for kings ransom. I would have thought Daks deal would have been eclipsed by now. Especially by Josh Allen and I would have thought Purdy would have gotten more due to playoff success. No way Dak should be the highest paid QB in the NFL. I can see top 10 but not the top paid.

maybe just me but i doubt Purdy will fulfill that contract.
He'll always be hurt and injury prone- and the HC will eventually get tired of his absence & streaky way of playing .

- But operating QBs are just that hard to find -and the Niners are probably still sore and utter paranoid
from the selection of Trey Lance as 4th overall. So there's no taking chances, and they won't chance turning it
over to bust No.1 pick Matt Jones.

- they'd much rather risk a chance at tossing tons of record setting money, than chance being without any functual QB they
feel of value. ala Miami Tua Tagovalioa and Trevor Lawrence .

Isnt Dak better than all of those except Burrow and Allen? I think so anyways.
None of those teams would trade their QB for Dak. Prescott’s deal with the Cowboys is poor value. I think $60 million AAV is going to be “a bridge too far” for another couple of years.

For practical purposes? No.... but Dak is still better than all of those except Allen and Burrow. 2nd in MVP and only one of 2 with an All Pro appearance.

Dallas could have been out of Dak's contract, if ONLY the Cowboys allowed Dak to play out his last year of his deal instead of extending him........
He could have been someone else's mistake. They wouldn't have screwed it up as bad as JJ but still buyers remorse.

Don't forget, Purdy has 1 rookie year left on his contract. When averaged in, it comes out to roughly 45M a year over the next 6 years.

On the flip side, Dak's contract was not only 7M more on the surface, but the money left on his final year was enormous. Making the average over 60M.
Jerry is stupid.
That's what happens when you corner yourself and literally wait until an hour before the first game to.sign the contract

We have had mediocre GM'ing for 29 years.
A bad QB contract is not a shocker.
I would be willing to lose every game next season if it forced meaningful positive changes.
Jerry wins just enough games to keep this farce going.
I hope the wheels totally fall off this joke of a team, to make changes happen.
Well past year he was being embarrassed and desperate and made the stupid trade for mingo.

He made enough moves and trades to improve slightly.. wash rinse repeat.

He will never stop down until his death.

And sad part is Stephen may actually be worse

Both players got an extension with 1 year left on their contract. Purdy got 5 years averaging 53M. But his last year is only around 5M. So 265M + 5M is 270M divided by 6. Averages out to 45M over the next 6 years.

Dak's contract was an average of 60M. Since this is his 3rd contract, he had a ton of void money that had to be averaged in. I think 90M. So 240M +90M is 330M over 5 years. Puts him at 66M over the next 5 years.
Wait. What?
