For all of the consternation that I have seen on here about how Fields tore the Cowboys up, let's not forget that the defense pretty much contained Philly's attack. Hurts carried 9 times for 27 yards. I take that all day. I chalk up the ridiculous amount of rushing yards (200+) in this game to game flow and an opponent that seemed content to essentially accept defeat by continuing to run while down multiple scores.

The Cowboys are not an elite run stopping unit however I believe that in close games where they are not content to allow the opponent to bleed the clock this will not be nearly the issue we think it is.

True, this game goes against the trend that you cannot win games when the other squad runs all over you. This game was mostly about how many points the Cowboys could stack up and watch the other team try to patiently come back.

The team could have trouble with running teams (or good running QB) with pretty good defenses though. Seattle, Arizona, Philadelphia, SF could be trouble for this team. Tennessee could present trouble for the team later this year because of it.

I agree, but they have had success on defense. But it is not just over-pursuit. Watching the bears game you can see some DEs getting pushed around by TEs. They also give up the inside or outside gap almost every time. I am pretty sure other teams see this too and they run plays designed to take advantage of it. The one guys who seems to be able to sniff out those runs is Sam Williams, at least so far. I hope he comes back and when he does I hope he gets more playing time even though Basham is coming back too.
