I would also like to thank those who have made my stay here especially good, Hostile, CBZ, LTN, and WG thank you for your kindness.

The point of this was to ask that this be kept here or even stickyed for the weekend.

Well said.

I think of my relative Emerson Wiltse who was wounded in the shoulder and captured on July 1st, 1863 during the brickyard fight at the battle of Gettysburg. He was part of the 154th NY Volunteer Infantry regiment of the First Brigade, Second Division, Eleventh Corps, Army of the Potomac.

Yes,take the time to remember those that have in the past, and continue now to safeguard our way of life.
I have many times overlooked the sacrifices made, but after just burying a friend of my son,and my nephew leaving for Iraq, and a son soon to leave for basic.....I can promise I won't again.

I can attest to how well our soldiers are respected here overseas. Even though I am here on work assignement from my company, but South Koreans stiil respect our soldiers based over here out of respect from the Korean War. And treat all Americans with respect. Also as a side note, from what I was told, many Koreans over here were full of tears and sorrow with the aftermath of September 11th.

Our armed forces and defense is underappreciated by far too many in our own country, let's give them the respect they deserve.

Bravo,
Being originally from N.Z. and my father fought in Vietnam,2 tours.I have found it incredible to see how returning Vets. were treated here.Thankfully that is no longer the case.Living on Maui, I have a freind in the 411th combat engineers who have just returned from an 18 mth. tour in Iraq. They have all been treated like the returning patriots that they are.The term "Hero's" gets thrown around far too much,But to all our service men and women, you really are this countrys HERO'S.Thank-you for all you do,home and abroard to make this country the great nation that it is....Mahalo to all..

Great post, The Key. Memorial Day is for remembering those who fought for us and are fighting for us now.

So I, also, would like to thank all of those great people in the armed forces for keeping America safe and free:remember: :toast:

Great idea Key. A heart felt thank you to everyone who place their lives before ours.

I have flown a flag in my yard from the begining of this latest peace effort in Iraq. I refuse to take it down until they all arive home. This reminds me daily of what they are doing and from where they are doing it. God Bless the men and women of our country, past and present.

Thank you to all armed services members and your families. You endure great hardships on our behalf.

I have to second what Kiheikiwi said. Here on the Big Island of Hawaii, returning service men and women are treated reverently. Casualties are deeply mourned.

It is as it should be.

I can take a break from being an antagonist for a little bit.

My old man was in the Army and has a crease in his leg to show for it. It's a shame that we only give a couple of days out of the year to celebrate those who put their lives on the line everyday for us.

I would record me playing "Taps" on my sax but I don't wanna dig it out of the closet.

One of my dad's friends, who is this sorta weeble looking guy, short and pudgy...named, of all things, "Thor" was on a PT boat in WWII along with 58 other guys.

The boat was hit by a torpedo...58 died. Thor was thrown from the boat and recounts flying through the air and landing some 50 feet from the boat. He floated in the water for hours before being rescued.

Thanks to Thor and thousands like him, we are able to do dopey things like post on this board.
